Diablo III: Sales Record, Game Guide, Mac Performance
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed some new information about its recently released action RPG sequel, Diablo III. The company has revealed record sales, unveiled an updated game guide, and offered some advice to Mac users with lower end graphics cards.

Following the global launch of Diablo III on May 15, the Lord of Terror has consumed a record number of souls. More than 3.5 million copies of the game were sold as of the first day of release, making Diablo III the fastest-selling PC game of all time. As of the first week of release, Sanctuary’s heroes had already reached a total of more than 6.3 million.

Today we updated the Diablo III game guide page with tons of information on the gameplay and world of Diablo III – fighting monsters, exploring the realm of Sanctuary, understanding items, and plenty more.
While this guide hits all of the basics, we know you have some more nuanced questions about the gameplay mechanics of Diablo III, and we’re planning to expand the guide with answers (and even more details) in the future. In the meantime, if there are any particular aspects of the game you’re curious to know more about, feel free to let your voice be heard in the comments!

We've been closely monitoring community feedback since the launch of Diablo III. The top issue for our Mac players is performance, especially on low-end cards such as the NVIDIA 9400M. We’re working on an optimization update to significantly improve performance for the NVIDIA 9400M. Other cards will see a modest but noticeable increase in FPS. This fix will be available in the near future.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Storyline And Quests Detailed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

As part of its continuing coverage of The Elder Scrolls Online, Game Informer recently released two new video interviews with the MMO's lead content designer Rich Lambert and creative director Paul Sage. The two video sessions include discussions of the game's storyline and quest structure.

Over the course of five core games, the Elder Scrolls series has accumulated enough lore to keep fans buried. The team behind The Elder Scrolls Online decided to wind back the clock in order to add to the series rich history. Through a combination of careful research, conversations with Bethesda Game Studios, and creative brainstorming, ZeniMax Online hopes to give fans of the series an thorough look at a tumultuous time in Tamriel's history. Game Informer's Ben Reeves sat down lead content designer Rich Lambert and creative director Paul Sage to talk about the story within the MMO and how it connects to Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim.

Fans of MMOs have killed their fair share of monsters. They've collected enough pelts and have returned plenty of missing items to quest-givers. The team behind The Elder Scrolls Online has the challenge of creating thousands of quests for their MMO that will hook players and share similarities with the Elder Scrolls games of the past. By implementing an exploration-focused quest structure and bringing in fan favorite quest-lines such as the thieves guild, creative director Paul Sage and lead content designer Rich Lambert hope fans of the series will feel right at home. Watch the video below to see Game Informer's Ben Reeves talk to Paul and Rich about their approach to designing quests, the main story of the game, and how the world will change depending on your actions as a player.

Dungeon Hearts Announced
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Cube Roots and Devolver Digital have announced a partnership to bring the puzzle/RPG hybrid Dungeon Hearts to Macs, Windows PCs, and mobile devices in early 2013. Cube Roots’ debut game features "a nostalgic blend of classic RPG elements fused into a vibrant match-three puzzle game for a wholly unique experience."

“Dungeon Hearts has been a labor of love for a while now. As an indie it can be tough bringing your project to a publisher for fear they are going to strip away the developer's personality from the final product,” said Cube Roots founder Chris Pavia. “It has been quite the opposite with the guys over at Devolver Digital, it's been great working with people who embrace the weird and quirky.”

  • Puzzle/RPG Hybrid – Align gems in the match-three puzzles system to wield devastating attacks and conjure powerful magic in a fast-paced adventure through a mystical world.
  • Limitless Adventure – Face a unique battle sequence with every new adventure and face off against a bestiary of dozens of creatures lurking around 16 unique environments.
  • Brimming with Secrets – Power-up through 99 character levels and unlock new heroes, special abilities, dungeons and even alternate soundtracks to create new scenarios in Dungeon Hearts.
