Blizzard Showcases The Diablo III Demon Hunter
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment has announced the release of a new video for fans eagerly awaiting its action RPG sequel, Diablo III. The new footage features the Demon Hunter class, and is part of an information roll out focusing on the five heroes players may choose in the game.

As we count the days to the worldwide release of Diablo III on May 15, we will be revealing never-before-seen information about the heroes of Sanctuary on our Diablo III launch site. In our unique look at the first of our five heroes, the demon hunter, you'll learn more about these vengeful harbingers of righteous doom.

Neophyte hunters are trained merely by surviving in the demon-infested wastes of the Dreadlands. Practiced in the subtle arts of knife and crossbow, the demon hunter learns how to dodge monstrous blows with acrobatic skill -- and return them with sharp-bladed fury. These delicate weapons require masterful finesse, but they allow demon hunters to bring death to their targets with surgical precision.

Venture on to the Gathering of Heroes page on our Diablo III launch site to read demon hunter lore, watch a new class video, learn about their skills, resources, armor, and weapons, and read an exclusive short story titled "Hatred and Discipline."

The Walking Dead: FAQ, Character Profiles, Pre-Order Contest
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Recently, Telltale Games has released a variety of new information about the upcoming game adaptation of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead graphic novel series. The updates this time include character profiles, a new FAQ, and the announcement that those who pre-order will be entered in a contest to become a character in the game.

From the FAQ:

Does this game use Quick Time Events as the major game-play dynamic and does it prevent the player from taking direct control of the player-character like Telltale’s Jurassic Park: The Game?

No. The Walking Dead offers a completely different game-play experience to Jurassic Park. QTEs do not provide the major part of game-play and you will have full control over your character as you move through the game’s environments.

What kind of game is this?

It’s an Adventure Horror game. This game will offer a different experience compared to many other zombie-based games. You won’t be mowing down hordes of the undead as a super-powered killing machine with unlimited ammo; that would not be an accurate recreation of Robert Kirkman’s world. When you do tangle with the undead, it’s going to be harrowing. That walker could be someone you once knew…or were very close to. Also, gunfire (or loud noises in general) are not good in areas where walkers could be lurking.

Is there anything unique about this game versus other Telltale games?

Yes. For the first time, the decisions that the player makes will drive a “tailored” game-play experience. A decision that you make or something that you say will have repercussions not only in the episode that you’re playing, but also in future episodes of the game. Decisions will range from relatively innocuous (do I lie here and if so, how should I lie?) though to world-changing (I can only save one person here, who will it be?). Furthermore, you’ll come under pressure to make decisions quickly. You won’t be able to stand around deciding which option to choose during a conversation. The undead won’t stand by and politely let you figure out your next move.

Telltale’s previous games have featured puzzle elements. Is that something we’ll see in The Walking Dead?

You’ll be challenged with problems for sure, but not classic ‘Adventure Game’ puzzles (like you'd find in our Tales of Monkey Island series). You’re a survivor in a zombie apocalypse…you can imagine the problems that you’ll have to deal with.

New Combat Action Screenshots For Drox Operative
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has released new screenshots for its upcoming sci-fi action RPG, Drox Operative. The new visuals depict some of the ships, weapon effects, and stellar objects players may encounter when the game is released. Drox Operative will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

Eons ago the Drox ruled the galaxy through their mighty Operatives. These elite starship captains were trained to accomplish the impossible at whatever cost necessary. Whether employing stealth or brute force, they were always deadly. Using these Operatives, the Drox built a starlane system for quick travel amongst the stars, colonized and conquered millions of planets, and ruled the galaxy with an iron grip for over 100,000 years. Eventually realizing their Operatives were a threat, they attempted to assassinate all of them. They failed. The following Galactic Civil War was devastating.
Thousands of years later, the Drox are extinct, but the secretive Drox Operative guild lives on. They have learned their lesson though: loyalty to any one race is foolish. They now work for whoever can pay. And pay they do! Empires might span hundreds of planets and thousands of ships, but when a critical task arises, they still turn to an Operative.

In the new space race, the major races are scouting, colonizing, and expanding, trying to take over the galaxy by diplomacy, technology, war, or any other means their scheming minds can contemplate.

As a Drox Operative it's NOT your job to manage all of those annoying people, build thousands of buildings, play nice with your enemies, or balance the budget. It IS your job to pick the winning side and maybe even help them conquer the galaxy if you're being nice, more importantly though is to rake in as many credits as possible, well that and build the coolest, deadliest ship in the known universe. Not many screw with an Operative captaining a Dreadnaught!

Guns Of Icarus: New Trailer And Pre-Orders
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Muse Games has released a new trailer for the upcoming post-apocalyptic airship combat game, Guns of Icarus Online. Featuring alpha footage, the video focuses on the visuals players will see when blasting rivals out of the sky. The company also unveiled new pre-order packages at 25% off.

Three hundred years ago was the beginning of the war, the Great War that never really ended. Cities were converted to war machines or rubble, citizens to soldiers or refugees, and the war raged until it consumed the world and turned the fertile plains to dust. Only when nations ceased to exist did they cease to send out armies and fleets to do battle, leaving those who remained, struggling not for dominance now but for survival, to regroup and rebuild among the ruins of the modern age. Where scattered survivors met they sometimes clashed, their skirmishes spasmodically reenacting the great wars in miniature, and they sometimes found a common interest and banded together, sheltering in makeshift camps. The largest of the camps became towns, and the largest of the towns became burgeoning cities, as slowly, life returned to the once-verdant wastes. When a man named Gabriel built the Icarus, the first airship, and sailed across the Burren, connecting the isolated towns, some said it was an atrocity; some said it was the future; and some said it would change everything. They were all right. Soon, others followed in his footsteps and built new airships, and a new age of commerce, and conflict, began. Humanity once again has the chance to flourish, or to plunge once more into the greed and violence that already brought it to the edge of extinction.

Welcome to Guns of Icarus Online, the first co-operative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four people will crew a ship, taking on one of the key roles of Captain, Gunner, or Engineer, and battling it out against other ships above the post-apocalyptic waste. In Guns of Icarus Online it will take teamwork and tactics to dominate the skies.
