Trine 2 Expansion Announced
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Frozenbyte recently announced that development has begun on an as-yet-unnamed expansion for Trine 2. The add-on for the colorul action/platformer will include a new six level campaign, new enemies, new skills, a new difficulty level, and a few small updates. The new skills will be usuable in the original campaign, as well as in the expansion's new adventure.

All jokes aside to the AAAA quality certification in the title, but we haven’t published an official name for the expansion.

It is going to be top notch though.

We prefer to steer away from the “DLC” concept.
So many negative associations with that these days.

And rightfully, we think that the pack we are making, deserves to be called a true expansion rather than just added content.

Boasting a new story with 6 unique levels, added enemies and skills.

A new hardcore mode, some bonus menu options and did I mention that the new skills can also be used in the original campaign?

So yea, lots of stuff.

The video above is just a small environment teaser and we will be releasing new details up until this here “Super Hyper Extended (AAAA) Edition of Trine 2? is released.

Pricing and a release date for the expansion will be released later this Spring. Check out the video at the link below for a glimpse of things to come.

Drox Operative Enters Alpha Testing
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Soldak Entertainment has announced in a new blog post that Drox Operative, the upcoming starship action RPG, has entered alpha testing. The game will put players in the role of an elite starship captain and will feature warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic and evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer.

For Soldak, alpha generally means the game is playable from start to finish, is fairly stable, and we hope is already fairly fun. It doesn't necessarily mean all of the assets are done or that all of the planned features have been implemented though. Alpha is also where we start getting people that aren't on the development team to play test, so we can get some outside opinions. These are almost always family and close friends.

So far the alpha seems to be going really well. We are up to our 3rd alpha build and have already made tons of changes. Sectors have been conquered, wars have been fought, there have been a few crashes here and there but it's very stable for an alpha, and most importantly it seems like everyone is having fun despite the rough edges.

Out Of The Park Baseball 13 Features Discussed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Out of the Park Developments recently released a new article focusing on new features in the upcoming Out of the Park Baseball 13. The article offers insight into some of the changes coming to the game's graphical user interface. The latest edition of the popular baseball simulation features 2012 rosters, real-time simulation mode, interactive storylines, league assocations, expanded playoff modes, improved online league play, a redesigned interface, and core engine improvements.

No better place to start than at the top of the OOTP screen and the completely revamped header. If you've ever thought that the user interface design of OOTP is a haphazard or casually implemented feature, think again. Markus and team worked long and hard to strike that delicate balance between aesthetics, usability, and plain old coolness factor.

The new header is clean, slick, organized and now features a completely redesigned pop-up menu designed to better categorize and explain each option's purpose. Veteran players will like the reorganized layouts and newbies will enjoy not having to dig through lots of different menus to find the right page to actually access organization depth or the league injury log.

With the introduction of the new Real-Time Sim mode, the header has also become more functional. When you enter Real-Time Sim Mode, the header displays the running clock and allows you to tweak the time factor. It also displays notable highlights from the games as well as the score of the game your team is playing.

Out of the Park Baseball 13 is scheduled for an April 9 release date. Read more at the page below.
