6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 33 comments

In a new interview with Inside Mac Games, TransGaming has revealed some of its upcoming plans for Mac gaming. Although no specific titles were revealed, the company promised Mac versions of two major game franchises would be making their way to the platform courtesy of Cider. The TransGaming Studios division will also announce its next original IP title this fall.

Cord Kruse: What does TransGaming have on the schedule for the remainder of the year?

TransGaming: There are a number of upcoming Mac titles that will be released this year that use TransGaming's Mac enablement technology. Unfortunately, due to confidentiality agreements we cannot give specifics yet. But we are confident that the Mac community will truly embrace these long-awaited major releases, including Mac versions of two major game franchises. Fans can check the TransGaming website for announcements on upcoming titles.

With the recent successful release of KULA BLOX, TransGaming's Studio Division is continuing to create additional content for the game. They have also begun work on their upcoming original IP game title, which should be announced later this fall.

IMG Reviews CoreBreach
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of CoreCode's CoreBreach. The new sci-fi action racing title, designed "from the ground up" to be a Mac OS X game, features 6 different ships, 6 race tracks, 6 powerful weapons, a career mode, and support for user made tracks.

Here's an excerpt:

The AI is excellent as well. I felt as though I was being challenged as I got further into the levels. The tracks were also superb. The twelve (versions of) tracks available might seem limited, but I think they possess the characteristics to be played over and over again without hesitation. There is the option for further customization with the inclusion of user created tracks. At the time of writing this article none were available, but the option adds more potential value to the game.

I didn’t spend much of my time in the Time-attack mode (This mainly because I was trying to unlock all the cars and tracks). But when I did get a chance to give it a go it was, to my surprise, addicting. Trying to bring your time down to the lowest possible can be frustrating yet invigorating at the same time.

Avernum: Escape From The Pit Beta Testers Needed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Spiderweb Software is looking for Mac owners willing to devote some time and energy to testing the upcoming RPG, Avernum: Escape From The Pit. The game is a "ground-up rewrite of Avernum" which will include a new engine and new graphics. As in the original, Avernum: Escape From the Pit follows the adventures of individuals exiled to a mysterous underground realm.

We currently need a handful of testers to beta-test Avernum: Escape from the Pit for the Macintosh. To test this game, you will need a Mac and enough time to play the game, slowly and attentively, over a 2-3 month period.

Important note:
We get lots of tester applications. Lots and lots of them. Sorting through the flood takes a lot of time. Due to the large number of applications we will receive, we will not respond to every application. Please do not E-mail us asking if you were accepted. We will only E-mail those who have been accepted. Many apologies, and good luck!

General Requirements:

  • You must have a reliable internet account, capable of E-mail and of downloading large files. Updates can be over 100 MB and need to be downloaded reliably.
  • You must be able to write and converse coherently in English.
  • You must be able to actually spend time on testing, and, even if you don't find bugs, you need to be able to frequently give us reports on your progress in the game.
