IMG Reviews Asphalt 6: Adrenaline 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment
Inside Mac Games has posted a new review of Gameloft's Asphalt 6: Adrenaline. The game allows players to choose from 42 cars and bikes to race in a variety of locales. Asphalt 6 supports up to six players in multiplayer mode, includes 11 different leagues and 55 events, and includes tuning options for improving vehicle performance. Here's an excerpt: With the career mode you get to challenge yourself by trying to complete the laps faster, knocking out bad guys who use their many underlings to reduce your chances of beating the lap time, getting the required amount of drift, trying to stay in one piece, or even some combination of these goals. I played the game so much I had to buy a new keyboard because the Mac keyboard just does not do well with holding down the accelerate key and drifting left at the same time. The game is very addictive. Read more at the link below.

CCP Gameshas released Incarna 1.1, a new patch for its EVE: Online sci-fi MMO. Among the fixes and improvements the patch includes updates to the Macintosh client, customizable API Keys, and changes to the session change timer while docking Here's a partial list of changes in Incarna 1.1: Mac:- Fixed an issue where NVIDIA hardware would render characters with yellow hands; this fix only affects Snow Leopard as the NVIDIA driver was fixed in Lion.
- Optimizations to VBO (vertex buffer object) should provide a performance boost to AMD systems in some cases.
- An issue where the Jukebox cut off the end of some songs has been substantially reduced in scope, some songs still lose a few seconds at the end though.
- Some memory-related fixes were introduced, significantly reducing the number of crashes due to running the client in high-detail mode.

Avadon: The Black Fortress Reviewed 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Zeboyd Games recently posted a new review of Spiderweb Software's latest RPG, Avadon: The Black Fortress. The first chapter of a new saga, the game puts players in the role of a spy and warrior tasked to defend the homeland from its many enemies. The game features four different character classes, dozens of sidequests, hundreds of items to discover, and many different possible endings. From the review: Avadon takes an hour to get going but once it does, it’s an engaging game. The setting is generic D&D fantasy (albeit with you working for the morally ambiguous fantasy equivalent of the UN) but the world is well crafted, the characters have personality, the individual scenarios are interesting, and the writing is solid. I especially enjoyed how the game gives out different dialogue depending on who is in your party. It strikes a happy medium between linear (the main plot) and non-linear (plenty of optional quests and dungeons to explore). The LV-Up system isn’t too complex (each level you get 1 stat point and 2 skill points and occasionally you get a specialization point) but it’s fun and lets the player customize their character’s stats & abilities nicely. Combat is turn-based on a grid and has depth without sacrificing pacing. Oh and there’s ton of loot along with tons of equipment slots to equip said loot on.
