Majesty 2: Kingmaker, Battles Of Ardania Expansions Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

Virtual Programming has announced the release of two Majesty 2 expansion packs, Kingmaker and Battles of Ardania, for Mac OS X. The expansions offer new missions, gameplay features, and monsters, along with multiplayer matches and a toolset for creating new missions and battles.

Majesty 2's third expansion pack, Monster Kingdom, is due on PC from Paradox Interactive in the New Year, and Virtual Programming has pledged to release the Mac OS X version in the same timeframe.

"Majesty 2 was simply the beginning of Ardania's next chapter. These expansions build an already-robust story world into something even more grand," said Virtual Programming CEO Mark Hinton. "I've been exploring them for several days now, and I keep stumbling across new things. I can't wait to tackle Monster Kingdom."

"I loved overseeing the development of these expansions, and I'm thrilled that Mac OS X gamers get to experience them too," said Paradox Interactive's Fredrik Wester. "Ardania has a lot to offer strategy gaming fans."

Kingmaker serves up a new eight-mission campaign that introduces Lord Blackviper and his goblin army, challenging players who united Ardania in the main game to now hold together the kingdom. The expansion also features a mission creator toolset as well as a Majesty 2 gameplay update that includes: a randomize feature that shuffles non-quest monster dens; random treasure chest goodies; multiplayer functionality; a map editor; and more. Multiplayer lets up to four gamers compete in competitive or cooperative matches over a LAN or the Internet.

Battles of Ardania continues the story with another new eight-mission campaign starring a mysterious mage werewolf who invades the kingdom with his creatures of the night. New monsters and weapon sets, along with four new multiplayer maps, are also included.

Monster Kingdom will conclude the storyline early in 2011 with a rip-roaring finale as the king finds himself overthrown and driven from his palace. In a unique twist, players must turn to monsters for help; former enemies are key to getting revenge on those who betrayed the king. New buildings, heroes, abilities, and guild powers will add to the fun.

System Requirements:

  • Mac OS X: 10.6.3 or higher
  • Intel CPU, 2.16 GHz or faster
  • 1 GB RAM
  • GeForce 8600, Radeon X1600 or newer 128 MB
  • 1.5 GB Hard Disk space
  • To install the expansion packs, you must have Majesty2 already installed.
  • Internet connection for product registration
Kingdoms and Battles of Ardania are available for $14.95 (£9.95, €14.95) each. Check out the links below to learn more.

DOFUS: Rogue Character Class Details
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Ankama has released some new information about the upcoming Rogue class coming in April 2011 to the DOFUS games, Dofus-Arena, and Wakfu (when it is released). The 13th class released for the game will focus on the use of explosives to damage enemies.

Background:
Champions as much as they are felons, the Rogues associate intelligence with cunning. Masters in the art of DIY, they use and abuse tools and gadgets to carry out their schemes. At the heart of all this malice, only one thing has any worth in their eyes: family values.

Gameplay:
The Rogue game is centred around bombs, which the character can place in combat, then explode at his will by using his “Detonator”. A rogue will, in fact, have several types of bombs with various powers, which he can place in different patterns before he blows them up, ensuring he does as much damage as possible to his enemies. Coupled with the ability to move bombs and protect his allies, the Rogue will prove himself to be a character with particularly destructive powers, as long as he’s able to correctly combine tactics and foresight.

He can do a lot of damage with his spells over large areas. Thanks to these skills, the Rogue is able to handle himself well in most situations, either alone or as part of a team, by choosing, turn by turn, to set off his explosions regularly or to save up all his bombs for increased damages. The Rogues’ weak point lies in their necessity to keep their enemies within the zone of affect of their bombs: if they go out of it, they’re out of danger.

Players will be able to test the two new classes in DOFUS, Dofus-Arena and Wakfu at the Ankama Convention #6, which will celebrate 10 years of Ankama. This event will take place on the 5th and 6th March 2011 at the Grand Palais in Lille, before the official release of the classes.
More information will soon be available about the 14th playable class, the Masqueraiders. For more information go to the website below.
