Gearbox Software and Feral Interactive recently announced that today is the release date for the Mac edition of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, the unique role-playing shooter. The Borderlands Game of the Year package comes complete with the best-selling Borderlands stand-alone game, its entire game add-on library, and a bonus fold out map of Pandora. Borderlands has been a runaway commercial and critical hit since its release last year. Players are able to take on one of four bounty hunters, each with unique skills and weapon proficiencies, as they take quest for information and valuable alien artifacts rumored to reside in ‘The Vault’. Players have only their wits and whatever weapons they can find to face off against the numerous enemies they encounter while searching for the Vault. “Borderlands represents a brave, new take on the role playing shooter game on the Mac,” said Feral Interactive managing director David Stephen. “It thoroughly deserves the critical and commercial success it has enjoyed and we are honored to be publishing it on the Mac.” Borderlands sports a unique combination of features that make it a gaming experience unlike anything else on the Mac. Prime among these are a groundbreaking content-generation system that provides a nearly endless variety of weapons, robust four-player co-op support that makes for a compelling multiplayer experience, RPG-style character progression allied to an FPS-style game mechanics and a super sharp visual style that gives the game a highly distinctive comic book look. Mac customers will also receive all four frenzied add-on adventures included with the Borderlands Game of the Year edition including The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, latest new adventure – Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution – where players will join forces in an attempt to suppress the infamous Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap. “We are absolutely thrilled that Mac gamers will now be able to join in on the world of Pandora in Borderlands.” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “The best part is that every Mac gamer gets to experience the game plus all the ass-kicking add-on packs for Borderlands! They are getting the full complete package, and this is the best way to enjoy such an extravasplosive game like Borderlands.” Minimum system requirements call for a 1.8 GHz Intel Mac with at least 2 GB RAM, 128 MB or better graphics card, DVD drive, and Mac OS X v10.6.4 or later. Civilization V Tech Support FAQ Released 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments
Aspyr Media has released some new information about the Mac release of Sid Meier's Civilization V. In a recent GameAgent NonBlog posting the company revealed a new Tech Support FAQ with information about difficulties some players have been experiencing. Why can’t I play the game in OS 10.5? Of course, we would like to have the game play in as many configurations as possible, but there are some new Open GL extensions that are essential to Civilization 5 that cannot be used in 10.5. Upgrading to 10.6 from 10.5 is fairly inexpensive and as long as you meet the hardware requirements, you will be playing in no time. You can purchase an OS upgrade from Apple here: http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=10.6&mco=MTA4MzI5ODk When playing on a laptop, I can’t get the game to display on my external monitor. What the dilly? You will need to tell the game what monitor you want to play on. When playing on a laptop, the system automatically chooses the laptop monitor as the primary display. To change to the other monitor, hold down the Apple/Command key while launching the game to bring up the initial configuration screen. On this screen, you will see an option to choose multiple monitors. Choose the external monitor, and you are on your way. Visit the page below to read more.

Diablo III Previewed 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Eurogamer has posted a new preview of Diablo III, the much anticipated next installment of the popular action RPG series from Blizzard Entertainment. The preview includes commentary from Diablo III lead world designer Leonard Boyarsky and lead technical artist Julian Love. Either way, your Demon Hunter, just like the other classes, will be defined by her skills, not her motivation (there will be a male model, by the way, and the silhouette on the login screen suggests he'll be similarly svelte and sexy, like a World of Warcraft Blood Elf). The Demon Hunter shows all the flair for dramatic and engaging skill design we've already come to expect from Diablo III, with greater emphasis on timing, positioning and physicality than the previous games. Bola Shot wraps itself around an enemy and blows up after a short delay, and can be used with skill for multiple takedowns. Multi-shot sprays out a cone of arrows, turning your Demon Hunter into a strafing attack ship from a Treasure shmup. The Grenades skill defines the Diablo III difference; it unleashes three bombs which bounce past your click-point with momentum appropriate to how far they've been thrown, fanning out and bounding off walls and other objects, then exploding after a delay of a second or so. They seem random at first, but can be used with timing, skill and inventivess to absolutely murder crowds of demons at doors, corners and other choke points. Head over to the page linked below to read more.
