Din's Curse Expansion: Demon Hunter Class Discussed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

In a recent blog post Soldak Entertainment's Steven Peeler discussed ideas for an upcoming expansion for the action RPG, Din's Curse. The post covers early plans for a new Demon Hunter character class which may be featured in the add-on.

Din's Curse gives interested gamers the chance to produce mods for the game. The game features 141 possible class combinations, an infinite number of dynamically generated towns, and a game world directly impacted by player choices.

I'm thinking of the demon hunter as basically an arcane fighter that is designed to kill demons. I'm looking at more of a fight fire with fire type thing, not anything like getting bonuses to killing demons specifically. I want him to have a decent amount of magic, but all pretty much close combat.

For the 3 specialties I'm thinking of Reaver, Warden, and Demonologist.

More Details Emerge About Eschalon: Book II Expansions
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

In a post on the official forums Basilisk Games has revealed some new information about upcoming add-ons for the company's recently released RPG, Eschalon: Book II. The first add-on, scheduled for this summer, will challenge high level players with a new dungeon to explore. The release of a second add-on is possible, but would be available "much later."

The first add-on will be the stairs underneath Farrock Caves. This is the legendary dungeon of Fathomirk. It is still in development now, so I do not know how long the gameplay will be. However, it will be tough- I think level 15 characters or higher is what it is being balanced for.

We have tentative plans for a second add-on, which is the Yoma Springs Caverns area, but that would come much later (like perhaps 6 months or so) and I am not making any promises with this one right now. It really depends on our plans for Book III and/or future games in general. Right now we're still focusing on promotion and sales of Book II.

The Broken Hourglass: Blog Update
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 9 comments

Planewalker Games recently updated its website with a link to a blog post from one of its designers, Jessica Greenlee. The post confirms that work continues on the long in development RPG, The Broken Hourglass. The Broken Hourglass will offer a new CRPG engine developed by Planewalker Games, a 2D isometric viewpoint, and a mod friendly design.

The quest I wrote about the last time I discussed The Broken Hourglass is coming together nicely. The characters are chattering away happily, and my grasp of basic code is improving to the point where adding it is no longer quite such an interruption to the writing.

I did have to stop yesterday to build a couple of stores, something I'm glad to say is much easier with WeiNGINE, than with Weidu (where, quite honestly, I only managed to make things crash when I was modding; Miloch & GeN1e built the working stores in Aurora). So, it slowed me down looking for the proper names of items they might carry, but not so much so that I lost the thread of the narrative, and I felt quite pleased with myself for getting it done.
Head over to the links listed below for more information about the game.
