Mini Ninjas Release Delayed

Today is the scheduled release date for Feral Interactive's Mini Ninjas. Developed by Io Interactive, Mini Ninjas follows the young ninja, Hiro and his friends as they travel through spellbound lands to do battle with a magical army of animals-turned-samurai.

UPDATE: Feral has announced that Mini Ninjas has been delayed. An updated release date will be availble "soon."

StarCraft II: Wings Of Liberty Beta Retrospective

Gamespiral has posted a new article examining the features available in the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty Beta. Blizzard Entertainment's return to the popular StarCraft RTS franchise will feature a robust new single player campaign and a host of new units and tactics for multiplayer fans to enjoy.

Even the general presentation of the game was greatly reminiscent of the first Starcraft, with many of the same building and character models. However, the updated 3D graphics and phenomenal environments made Starcraft 2 not only a joy to play, but also a pleasure to look at. Even during massive battles between opponents even in a 4v4 game ran smoothly with no hiccups at all in my experience. The user interface of the game was also not only nice looking, but also very easy to use. From the menu, players can check community news, check their statistics, check their ladder standings, and much more. Finding an online game on is easier than ever, you simply choose your race and your game type (1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4) and click find match and in less than a minute you would be paired up with the correct number of players and placed into a game. Players could also find a match but also create a party of friends, create a custom game, play co-op against the AI, or play an unranked FFA game. One thing however that has angered long time Starcraft fans is the complete absence of LAN support. All multiplayer games must be played through Blizzard’s online network service,

The music and sound effects of Starcraft 2 were by far the most impressive of any RTS game that I’ve ever played. Each race had it’s own music as well as their own unique sound effects and extremely well done voice acting. Although I didn’t have a chance to do it I guarantee that playing Starcraft 2 on a good quality sound system would be one hell of an experience.

Eschalon: Book II Version 1.04 Coming Soon

Basilisk Games has released information about the upcoming release of version 1.04 of Eschalon: Book II, the company's fantasy RPG. The update will include several bug fixes, more language support, and some balance changes. It is also likely the last update before the company releases add-on content for the game.

Version 1.04 will, of course, contain all the latest bug fixes. While there aren't many major bugs left, a few of the bugs have caused some general playability issues for people using Linux. The game is exceptionally stable in current version 1.03, so 1.04 will just be a bit of clean up.

More importantly, 1.04 will have support for other languages. Currently we have Russian, French, Spanish and Slovakian translations in the works by fans. These initial translations will just be game text only, which includes narration, books, dialog, and spell/potion descriptions. This should be enough for most people to fully enjoy the game- future versions of the game will likely have additional text translated such as the interface graphics and messages generated by the system.

I hope to be able to include several of these languages with the 1.04 release, however if the translations take much longer to produce then I'll just release 1.04 without some of them. Users can drop-in new "language packs" as they are released. If you are interested in translating the game into a specific language, please contact us.

In addition, 1.04 may have a few balance adjustments as well. I am playing around with some of the settings now based on feedback from all of you. More info on this when 1.04 is released, which is scheduled for the end of June.

Beyond 1.04.... Once 1.04 is out, we should have a stable platform for which we can merge in the add-on content. This will likely take 6-8 weeks to complete and will be released with version 1.05 of the game.

X3: Reunion OS X Native Port Launches Soon

Virtual Programming recently announced that the OS X native port of X3: Reunion would be released on June 11. Originally brought to Mac users via Transgaming's Cider Portability Engine, the sci-fi title has been reengineered in an effort to improve the game's performance.

UPDATE: VP has announced that the update "has slipped a few days past 6/11"

“We weren’t happy with X3: Reunion’s performance when using Cider, and it turned out many of our customers weren’t either. As a gesture of goodwill, we reengineered the game as a native port that’s a free update for existing customers. New X3: Reunion customers will receive the non-Cider version of the game," said Virtual Programming CEO Mark Hinton.

The sequel to the award winning X: The Threat introduces a new 3D engine as well as a new story, new ships and a new gameplay to greatly increase the variety in the X-universe. The economy of X3: Reunion is more complex than anything seen in the X-universe before. Factories are built by NPCs, wars can affect the global economy, NPCs can trade freely and pirates will behave far more realistically.

The Story
What happened so far: While the Argon fleet is stretched almost to breaking point by the continuing attacks from Khaak, a new enemy is stalking the X-universe. What links a mysterious ship with the power to disappear, the ruthless Yaki pirates and a machine left by an ancient species? Its time to strap yourself in, warm up your laser cannon and get some answers.
