Emberwind Now Available
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments

Independent game developer TimeTrap has announced the release of its new game, Emberwind. Described as an original fantasy platform game for Mac and PC, the game challenges players to free the city of Grendale from the evil CandleFinger.

"We're thrilled to be able to launch Emberwind. It has been a long and taxing journey and everyone involved are very proud of the end result. It is a great game and will bring back many fond memories for people that enjoyed the great platformers of the 80's and 90's as well as present a very solid game experience to the younger audience."

Help free the city of Grendale from the evil CandleFinger and his gremlin hordes. The grand city of Grendale is under siege by mischievous hordes of gremlins and only a stubby gnome watchman named Kindle Elderwood can answer the call for a hero. Sail through the clouds on your ancient snow owl and deploy your cane of justice to save the kingdom from the underworld.

The primary goal of Emberwind is to explore stages looking for up to 6 houses per stage to visit. When the player visits a house they must light the fireplace by touching it to prevent the people inside from being attacked by gremlins. The house status information is displayed in the upper left hand corner of the HUD and updates as progress is made.
Once players have lit up all the fireplaces in a stage they will be allowed to return to their owl and continue to the next stage.
Emberwind is available for $12 as a digital download through TimeTrap's website at the link below.

BOH Update, Holiday Discount
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

Independent developer Simone Bevilacqua has announced a holiday sale for and released a new update for BOH. The retro action game of exploration challenges players to travel through trap filled corridors, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies as they quest to find and defeat the Evil Masters. BOH features 25 missions and 5 difficulty levels.

The Christmas season brings good news to who'd smile at the idea of finding a copy of BOH under the tree: in fact, from December 8 through January 6, the boxed game will come at just EUR 10.00 and the digital version at just EUR 7.50 (prices do not include VAT 20%)!
Don't miss this chance to buy yourself or give as a gift a quality game for so little!

But that's not all, as there's a little surprise also for current users: update8 is available right now!
It is a minor service release that:
  • fixes the handling of sparks colors (did not take into account the platform pixel format, so on some machines colors could look wrong);
  • fixes the disappearance of enemies when hit (happened only in the MacOS version, due to a missing assignment);
  • fixes a few errors in the Spanish translation;
  • makes some minor changes to the user's manual.

Tim Willits Discusses Rage
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

NowGamer has published a new interview with id Software's creative director Tim Willits about Rage, the company's upcoming racing and shooting title set in a post-apocalyptic future. The Q&A covers a variety of topics including the game's storyline, types of weapons players will be able to use, and the vehicular options available in the game.

How did you approach the combat racing side of Rage?
Because combat manoeuvres are so important in Rage we really had to take a different approach to the driving physics. What we’ve created is a vehicle feel that works well for fans of racing games and is approachable to fans of first-person shooters. I believe we’ve created vehicle challenges that will work well for everyone.

id is famous for its games’ weapons. What can we expect in Rage?
Rage will feature many of the classic id Software weapons of the past, along with some new and unique Rage weapons as well. We are focusing not only on great weapons, but on engineering items that will add to the variety of gameplay. We will also have multiple ammo types available for a number of the weapons.

How will players acquire special weapons and special items like sentry bots?
Rage also has an economy where you are allowed to choose how you spend your money earned through combat and racing. You might decide you love the wingstick (a boomerang-cum-shuriken weapon) and stock up on them, or you may feel inclined to purchase parts to build more sentry bots or to keep your armour upgraded and repaired
