World Of Warcraft Race Change Now Available
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 6 comments

Blizzard Entertainment has announced the availability of a new race change service for its popular fantasy MMO, World of Warcraft. For a $25 fee per use players can change the race of a character to any race of their same faction that is compatible with the character’s current class. To be eligible for the change service a character must be at least level 10 (level 60 for Death Knights).

What is the Race Change service?
Our Race Change service is designed to allow existing characters the opportunity to change their designated race while staying in their existing faction (Alliance or Horde).

How much does this service cost?
Each Race Change costs $25.00 USD (not including applicable taxes). This covers a single Race Change for a single character.

Can I change multiple characters' races at once?
No. The Race Change service only allows one change per transaction. If you would like to change multiple characters' races, you will need to pay for each one separately.

At what level can I change a character's race?
Characters level 10 and above are eligible for a Race Change. Death Knights will be unable to change their race until level 60.

Will this service allow me to customize a character and select a different name once its race has been changed?
Yes. Each Race Change purchase will also provide the target character with an included re-customization and optional name change.

Am I allowed to choose any race regardless of what class I play?
No, the new race you choose must be compatible with your current class.

How often can I change a character's race?
You may change a character's race every three days.

What happens after I initiate a Race Change?
Once your payment has processed and after you have remained logged out of the game for at least 30 minutes, you will see a new button to the left of the character's name upon next login. Clicking on this button will allow you to select the character's new race, as well as customize the character's look and name. These steps will greatly resemble the character creation process.
To complete the Race Change, press the button labeled "Click to change your character's race" and confirm your selections. If you do not wish to change the character's race immediately, you may do so at a later time.

City Of Heroes: Going Rogue Features Revealed
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story has posted a new article exmamining some of the upcoming features in Going Rogue, an expansion for NCSoft and Paragon Studios' super hero themed MMO, City of Heroes. In the expansion, hero and villain characters will become immersed in the new parallel universe known as Praetoria, which is governed by Tyrant, the evil incarnation of the game's main protagonist, Statesman.

To start out, there will be a new starting area called Praetoria which will run content from around 1-20. Players who create new characters can choose between Hero, Villain, or Praetorian, but Praetorian characters will ultimately have to make a choice as to whether they want to be a Hero or Villain. There will be ample opportunities for Praetorian characters to sample both sides throughout their progress, as well. Praetoria is also designed from the ground up with entirely new assets. They've built new roads, buildings, etc for the zone and it looks nothing like previous City of Heroes zones, including the lack of war walls!

There are also two new factions that players can actually join in Praetoria. The first are the Resistance, who are a steampunk-themed group fighting against Cole's (Tyrant) Empire. Praetorian characters who join this faction will be on their path to becoming a hero, and they will also recognize some familiar faces from City of Heroes/Villains in The Resistance, not the least of which is Ghost Widow, everyone's favorite ethereal super villainess.

Going Rogue will also introduce many new graphical upgrades in what is being called "Ultra Mode". Ultra mode is a fully optional mode that players with higher end rigs can run City of Heroes in to experience the game in a whole new light. Praetoria, as well as older City of Heroes/Villains zones will get major improvements to reflections, shadows, and water.

Of course, how can we forget about the new powersets? Demon Summoning (Masterminds) and Dual Pistols will be two new powersets to make their debut in Going Rogue, and the latter was actually demo'd at HeroCon. Needless to say if you're a fan of John Woo movies or gunkata moves, you're in for a treat! Dual Pistols players will also be able to select from several different ammo types including: Cryo, Incendiary, Chemical, and Normal.

EVE Online: Dominion's Fleet Finder
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

CCP Games has released another new developer blog focusing on upcoming changes to its sci-fi MMO, EVE Online. The post offers a preview of the Fleet Finder, a new feature planned for the upcoming Dominion expansion. The Finder will allow player to access all information related to fleets in a single window.

One of the features that I am personally most excited about for the upcoming Dominion expansion (well, not counting the new browser, the sovereignty changes, the awesome new graphics...).

Let me try that again: A thing that I'm reasonably excited about is a cute little feature that we call the Fleet Finder.

What's even cooler is that we took the opportunity and worked on the overall fleet UI and some of the basic fleet functionality like the broadcasts.

This is something we've been iterating on for a while and it‘s running on Singularity as we speak. If I were you I‘d stop reading right now and go play with it!

Still here? Okay, fine, let's go through the highlights then.

One of the things you'll notice straight away is the new "Fleet" button on your NeoCom. This will allow you to access everything fleet related in a single window. We've combined the broadcast and the fleet window in one and added the Fleet Finder into it as well. This approach is much more user-friendly and should be helpful to newer pilots who are finding their footing in Eve.

You are able to completely close the Fleet window without exiting your fleet. I'm pretty sure that this will come in handy for people in large, 200+ man person fleets because updating the fleet member list is a bit laggy with that many people (this is something we're looking into).
