BioShock Coming To Macs October 7

Feral Interactive has announced an October 7th release date for the Mac version of 2K Games critically acclaimed BioShock. The first person title drops players into the undersea world of Rapture where they must avoid being killed by the bizarre denizens of the city while seeking a way to escape.

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the space-based top-down shooter Star Defender 4 from Awem Studio. Defend the universe from swarms of deadly aliens with a wide array of power-ups and weapons at your disposal. Here's an excerpt from the review:
Capturing power-ups is a critical aspect of this game. Doing so improves your weapons, making it easier to survive. You star fighter has two attacks. The standard, essentially unlimited one is always available. It improves as you gain power (by collecting energy power-ups), starting with simple energy shots, and moving up to energy shots that spray all over, higher powered energy shots, seriously damaging rays, combination shots, and more. One particular power up turns the star fighter into a multi-weaponed destroying machine for a short period. Diablo III: The Power Of An Isometric Viewpoint

GamerZines has posted a new interview with Blizzard Entertainment's Christian Lichter and Julian Love about Diablo III, the company's return to the popular action RPG franchise. The topics discussed included the game's artwork, the benefits of an isometric camera angle, and responding to fan feedback.

GamerZines: Diablo III Interview Part 1
CL: We love the isometric camera angle as an art team, it lets us do things that we couldn't do otherwise. We can really cater to it, it's fixed to us and we know what to expect from it and we get to do things, that we wouldn't be able to do otherwise. A lot of the look and feel of Diablo from what has been released so far is really based on the fact we have an isometric camera. Also I think early in the development there was some experimentation with different cameras and it really never felt like Diablo so this was really the perfect choice. In a lot of ways it really is a perfect fit. Art wise we have a lot of things that we can do that we couldn't do otherwise. It's very integral to the look of the game. We're shooting for something that has a painted look to it, something that people will be able to play many, many years from now.
GZ: You've talked about how it's been a collaborative effort. The amount of content in a title like Diablo III is simply staggering. How is the art team broken down into different responsibilities? Do you treat it as a specific team for characters, backdrops, monsters or do you integrate the work and ensure the differences are intentional.
CL: That's an interesting question, I think as far as the art goes it's very important for us to support the gameplay first and foremost. That said the way the departments are split is somewhat more traditional that you would think - we have a character team, we have backgrounds teams, we have the effects team which is responsible for effects and technology. Even within the environments we have splits between the interiors and exteriors because there are different technical challenges we have with each one of those. That said the people we have on the team are incredibly talented and they really are talented at more than just one thing. That also contributes to us having a team that can really contribute and collaborate on everything.

Little Space Duo Available For Mac

Jugilus has announced the release of Little Space Duo for Mac. In the puzzle-based arcade game players guide a little girl and a small robot through a huge spaceship as they work to repair the ships systems and avoid robots blocking their path. Little Space Duo features 40 levels and 2 gameplay modes.
What's the worst that can happen when a spaceship's systems go haywire? Lucy knows all too well! She's been abducted accidentally by a strange vessel, whose control systems have been damaged by a cosmic ray.Requirements:
Considered by the ship to be nothing more than a piece of cargo, she has been taken away into space. Luckily, she's not alone - a small, clever data robot is there to help her out. Together they will embark on a mission to fix the computer and save the day. It wont be easy, though; they have a long way to travel and the corridors of the spaceship are patrolled by various cargo robots which will try to catch them and put them in storage. The little duo will need to work together, help each other out, and utilize all their cunning to outsmart the cargo robots.
Little Space Duo provides two gameplay modes. Most of game consists of a side-scrolling arcade platformer, in which the player controls Lucy and Sunny. Lucy can run and perform some tasks, like operating lifts and manipulating some devices. Sunny, meanwhile, can fly and can access some hard to reach areas, but he lacks hands, and thus cannot do some of the things Lucy can. He can also help Lucy by carrying her safely down from high places.
Traveling through the corridors of the ship, the little duo will encounter various patrolling robots, which will try to catch them. The different robots have varying abilities, which the player must pay attention to, in order to help the protagonists avoid capture. Most of the robots are able to catch Lucy, while Sunny has less to worry about, as there are fewer that can catch him. The player must be clever in managing the two heroes' abilities and vulnerabilities in order to help them on their quest.
The second mode is a top-down arcade game in which the player controls a vehicle carrying Lucy and Sunny. The vehicle travels through the larger cargo halls of the ship, which contain many patrolling robotic vehicles. The puzzle elements in this portion of the game involve not only avoiding these robotic vehicles, but manipulating them in order to advance.
