IMG Reviews Democracy 2
8:06 AM | Marcus Albers | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the political simulator Democracy 2 from Red Marble Games. The complex simulation game puts you in control of a country's government, with the ultimate goal being to grow your country and get re-elected. Here's an excerpt from the review:

You may be officially in charge, but you don't get to just do whatever you want. The only policies you can effect or alter are the ones you have the "political capital" to pay for. For example, I wanted to reduce the crippling debt caused by military spending in one of my games, but the political capital required to do so was in the mid-50s, and owing to either entrenched traditions in this particularly bellicose country, or my political ineptitude, the amount of political capital I could scrape up in any given turn was in the mid-30s. Political capital is generated by the ministers of each of the seven portfolio areas, and is a function of their loyalty and experience. I think, but I'm not sure, that your current popularity is also a factor in generating political capital, as would only make sense.

Skyworks, the creator of the iPhone/iPod Touch sports game Arcade Hoops Basketball, has announced the release of Arcade Bowling. The game challenges the finger skills of players as they aim and toss "laser" balls down the alley and toward the scoring holes at the end of the ramp. The game features two game modes, 3D graphics, and increasingly challenging levels of play.

Designed by video game legend David Crane, one of the original founders of Activision, and one of the most critically acclaimed game designers of all time!  David’s 32-year career includes such games include “Pitfall!”, “Laser Blast”, Ghostbusters”, “David Crane’s Amazing Tennis”, and “A Boy and His Blob” to name just a few.
In the tradition of Skeeball, everyone’s favorite Boardwalk bowling game, use your fingers and steady aim to fling “laser” balls down the alley and up the ramp into the scoring holes.  The further the scoring hole is, the more points you’ll get!  Once the laser ball flies off the ramp, you can tilt your iPhone/iPod touch to actually influence the ball’s flight in midair!  Use the accelerometer to adjust your aim by tilting left and right, and adjust the ball’s speed by tilting forward and back.
Arcade Bowling features two futuristic sound tracks, state of the art iPhone 3D graphics, and two addictive game modes, Classic and Progressive!  In Classic Mode, roll up to nine balls to score as many points as you can.  In Progressive Mode, enjoy multiple levels of game play including increasingly challenging score plateaus and bonus targets.
