GiantCrayon WordSoup Released
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

GiantCrayon Games has released GiantCrayon WordSoup, a new word puzzle vocabulary game. WordSoup presents players with a jumble of letters from which they must find every possible anagram before the time runs off the clock. To move to the next round players must guess the longest possible word available with the given letters.

"We're incredibly excited," said Tim Goggin, VP, Sales & Marketing for GiantCrayon Games. "This is more than just a computer game. It's a way for adults to solve fun, challenging word puzzles and increase their vocabulary at the same time."

Goggin added, "GiantCrayon WordSoup is like an spinning class for Mac users' vocabulary. Whether you win or not, you find yourself stretching for words that aren't on the tip of your tongue. You also learn new words all the time. It's a rush to advance to the next level."

The game has options to limit or expand the number of letters jumbled as well as difficulty settings that limit how long players have to guess words. Goggin warns that it can be highly addictive.

GiantCrayon Games is a wholly owned subsidiary of Information Appliance Associates, makers of ground-breaking Macintosh sync tools. GiantCrayon Games produces unique casual games for fun and stimulation.
GiantCrayon WordSoup works on OS 10.5.x (Leopard) and retails for $9.95 (USD).

IMG Reviews I SPY Fun House
12:16 PM | Marcus Albers | 1 comment

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the hidden object game I SPY Fun House from Scholastic. Based on the popular series of children's books, the game serves as a excellent introduction to the world of seek-and-find casual titles such as the Mystery Case Files series. Here's an excerpt from the review:

Besides the great environment, I appreciate there are no grandiose attempts to make this game appear to be more than it is, no mysteries or murder plots that seem to promise intrigue but really require no other skill than being observant and able to spot objects in the clutter.

Although the game is designed for kids in the 6-11 age group, as with other I Spy games, does this preclude adults from playing? Absolutely not! My wife has been a dedicate player of these casual games of which there is a long list of titles by publisher Scholastic and Big Fish Games. (makers of the Mystery Case Files series).

S2 Games has announced that Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is now freeware. There are no longer demo restrictions of any kind and all players can enjoy the game for free. In addition, S2 Games has officially announced the recent release of a Mac OS X Client for Apple gamers. The sequel to Savage: The Battle for Newerth expands on the original's combination of first-person shooter, real-time strategy, and role-playing game elements.

About Savage 2: A Tortured Soul:

Savage 2: A Tortured Soul is the sequel to the critically acclaimed online multiplayer game Savage: A Battle for Newerth, which introduced gamers to the completely new Real Time Strategy Shooter (RTSS) gaming genre. Savage enabled players to opt for either the fast-paced, run-and-gun action of a first-person shooter (FPS) game - playing as a Warrior - or the more cerebral and tactical planning of a real-time strategy (RTS) game - playing as a Commander - working together as a team to defeat the enemy. Savage 2: A Tortured Soul builds upon the addicting, fast-paced gameplay of the original with additional squad-based features and enhanced role-playing game (RPG) elements which enable players to build their character level and abilities throughout the game.
