Digital Legends Bringing Kroll Adventure Game To iPhone
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Macworld has published a new article examining Digital Legends' first foray into the emerging iPhone games market. Currently at work on the development of Kroll, a side-scrolling 3D fantasy adventure game, the company is one of many developers staking a claim on the iPhone.

“We decided that Kroll would be a side-scroller, that that would provide the best experience,” said Bonilla. “All the things you need to make a great side-scroller are there in the iPhone’s controls.”

Players use the iPhone’s accelerometer to jump up and down and can use touch-screen controls to activate weapons and other actions in the game.

“We call it 2.5D, because we’re using polygons and 3D artwork,” said Bonilla. “But the gameplay is similar to console games like God of War and Shadow of the Colossus, so we needed to find easy-to-use controls.”

In addition to making it easy to play, Digital Legends is concerned with making Kroll accessible to people who don’t have a lot of time to play.

“If you’re waiting for your latte, probably you want to play and have a rewarding two-minute experience,” said Xavier Carrillo Costa, Digital Legends’ CEO. “So iPhone games need to be compelling, easy to play, and graphically very appealing, but at the same time having enough depth to play for an hour while you’re commuting.”

Diablo II Ladder Reset Coming June 17
6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

Blizzard Entertainment recently announced it will be resetting the Diablo II ladder on June 17th. At the end of each ladder season all participating ladder characters are changed to normal characters. To join in the next season players have to create a new ladder character.

We will be performing a Diablo II ladder reset on June 17 beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m. PDT. The reset is anticipated to require approximately six hours of downtime to complete, and during that time all Diablo II realms will be unavailable for play. When the reset occurs all existing ladder characters will be moved to non-ladder. This provides a fresh start and new competition for leveling supremacy on the ladder realm.

Here's a clip from the update:

A long time fan of my section awaiting the patch for Battlefield 2142 from Electronic Arts was hoping that I could visit this game again. So, this week we return to the popular Battlefield series to give him some new eye candy to help pass the time. I decided to tie this week into the last desktop I created based on the great box design and I was able to do it with the help of Electronic Arts.
