Neverwinter Nights 2 Updated

Aspyr Media has released a free patch for Neverwinter Nights 2, the second game in the Forgotten Realms fantasy RPG series. The official update brings the game to version 1.12.1295 and introduces a variety of changes and bug fixes to the game.

Rise from a peasant to a full-fledged hero as you defend the Realms against one of the greatest threats of the age!

Build a character that suits your style of play - good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions available at the click of a button. Ambrosia Software Announces Aki Mobile Mahjong For iPhone

Ambrosia Software has announced their first iPhone game, Aki Mobile Mahjong. Based on Aki Mahjong Solitaire for Mac OS X, the game is rewritten specifically for the iPhone. The new game will be previewed next week at WWDC in San Francisco. Ambrosia will begin selling Aki via iPhone's App Store when it launches.

Ambrosia's iPhone game philosophy is to provide games you can pick up and play whenever you want, then dismiss quickly to take that phone call you just received. Just hit the Home button at any time, and whenever you relaunch Aki, you're right back where you left off!

Thanks to Core Animation, browse Aki's levels by simply flicking your finger. Download additional custom levels via EDGE/Wi-Fi by simply tapping your finger, and instantly have new, challenging levels to keep you entertained for hours.

The Clumsys For Mac Released

Macgamestore today announced the release of The Clumsys for the Mac. The hidden object game was developed by Gogii Games and features well over 10 hours of game play with 100 levels, 4 unique modes of game play, 3 unique vision gadgets, 20 missing kids and more.

Tim and his mischievous friends got themselves into quite a pickle when they discovered Grandpas latest invention, The Time Machine. Help Grandpa track down 20 kids lost in time and clean up any traces they left behind. Who knows what kind of chain reaction a toy car could cause in the year 200BC.

Inside Mac Games has posted a review of the new seek-and-find game from Sweet Tooth Games, The Scruffs. Here's a clip from the review:

So the game is formulaic. It has all the gameplay of the last game of this type I played and others before, yet I am in praise of the game. It goes back to the presentation. Each gaming task has a purpose for the flow of the game, which is just great. The game is also just delightful. The graphics and music are great first of all, and will be touched upon in more detail later. The game starts up with voiced narration setting up the game and introducing the family, each of whom is also fully voiced. The characters and a random forth wall-breaking “Director” steps in and gives tutorials on how to play the game and progress the story. These segments were great fun, with fun jokes scattered throughout. My one complaint is that they teeter off after day two. Instead of bridging each level, completion just throws you into the next challenge. There is little reason to go back after the game is completed, though it could take a good five hours to play through.

Blizzard Entertainment has released the third BlizzCast, a series of podcasts created by Blizzard's Community Team and focusing on the company's current and future game offerings. The third episode features interviews with World of Warcraft lead designer Jeff Kaplan, StarCraft II lead desinger Dustin Browder, and manager of video production Joeyray Hall. The podcast concludes with a Q&A session answering fan questions.

Karune: What elements of the original Zerg did you feel were crucial to maintain for StarCraft II?
Dustin Browder: So a lot of the things we really want to make sure we maintain is the feel in a lot of ways of the race. So the Zerg were very fast, very aggressive, very mean, very flexible, and strategically able to rapidly change their technologies on the fly, on the battlefield. All of these things, the speed, the aggression, the feeling of constant fear when you are facing them, that these things are hunting you, is really important to us for the Zerg. So a lot of it, is the feel stuff. There isn’t a specific thing that we felt you had to have, but we do have a lot of things from the original game. We feel like we have that feeling of aggression, speed, and adaptability. We also have some stuff in there that you have already seen already in some of the units are themes that we want to carry over more from StarCraft, which the original StarCraft had- A lot of infestation for the Zerg, we wanted to highlight that and use that a little bit more than it had been used in the original StarCraft.

World War II Online 7th Anniversary Celebration Begins

Cornered Rat Software and Playnet Inc have announced a week of special events, promotions, and prizes to celebrate the 7th year anniversary of World War II Online's original release. The special celebration additions include temporary reactivation of old accounts, free trials for new players, high score contests, and a 15 minute server wide cease to gather and honor those who died during the war.

It's been seven years since a small group of developers in Bedford, Texas launched "WWII Online: Blitzkrieg". It was an ambitious project that introduced the gaming world to a new type of play: the MMOFPS. "WWII Online: Blitzkrieg" has evolved into "Battleground Europe", a mature and feature rich game with a dynamic and devoted community. With over 100 accurately modeled weapons available and a game world measuring over 350,000 square miles. "Battleground Europe" remains the most immersive World War II MMOs ever made.

Escape The Museum Reviewed

About This Particular Macintosh has published a new review of Gogii Games' hidden object puzzle title, Escape The Museum. In the game players take the role of museum employee Susan as she hunts for a variety of objects to aid her quest to find her missing daughter and escape the earthquake damaged building. ATPM gave the game a rating of Good.

From the review:

The typical hidden object game involves some contrived story. In Escape the Museum, you play the role of Susan, a museum employee who brought her daughter Caitlin to work. An earthquake happened and the two got separated. Susan must work her way through various damaged parts of the museum to reunite with her daughter. Along the way you get some help from other museum staff members and some in the city outside. Your progress is slowed down by requests to salvage certain pieces from the museum’s collection, which, surprise surprise, involves looking for hidden objects. It sounds like you are supposed to look for “valuables,” but in reality the items to be found are mundane things like a sub (sandwich) or a roll of carnival tickets. I told you the genre involves contrivance. By the way, you should realize by now that the game has nothing to do with the Hollywood movie Night at the Museum starring Ben Stiller.

Unlike the typical hidden objects game, in Escape the Museum you are not constrained by time. Move the mouse at your leisure to every pixel on the screen. Be careful not to click unless you are sure, as you are rated by accuracy. With the first object found, your accuracy is 100%. As you make mistakes, your accuracy drops. My able assistant, seven-year-old Justin, is good at not clicking like crazy; but I am not sure if other, perhaps younger, players can be as patient. Still, it seems that as long as you eventually find all objects you do not have to re-visit the room.
