8:13 AM | Cord Kruse | 2 comments

Spiderweb Games' latest newsletter revealed that it will soon be offering more details on the new and improved version of Nethergate, a unique fantasy RPG set in ancient Britain. Titled Nethergate: Resurrection, the stand-alone game will remake the original from the ground up, adding a variety of improvements as well as new content for players to enjoy. The game is tentatively scheduled for release in Summer 2007.

We are getting close to being able to fully and properly announce our next project. It will be Nethergate: Resurrection. It is an expanded, ground-up rewrite of our aged classic, Nethergate.

We will be bringing this tale of action and intrigue in ancient Britain into the new millennium, with an improved interface and graphics and new dungeons to explore and treasures to find. Once again, you can play the powerful Romans or the savage Celts as both sides race to discover and exploit the powerful secrets of Shadowvale.

We hope to release information and screenshots within a month and send the game into the world this summer. Be sure to keep an eye on our web site for more information.

Prey Reviewed
8:13 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

Applelinks recently posted a review of Prey, a first person shooter which offers a few new twists on familiar game mechanics with the introduction of wall-walking, spirit-walking, and gravity-flipping. Applelinks gave the game a score of 4 out of 5.

From the review:

But, you're stuck with him, so soldier on. You will be rewarded. The first reward is the ability to wall walk. Although it's confined to specific walkways throughout the game, I'll admit that it's pretty cool to just run up walls and across the ceilings. Disorienting, too, which the developers used wisely. There'll be times when you're on the ceiling, fighting enemies below you. It's even better when they're up above, as they come crashing down after you kill them. Wall walking is the highlight of the multiplayer game, really, certainly bringing a much needed fresh perspective to it.

There are also areas in the game where, by shooting specific targets, you flip gravity so that you can run across what was the ceiling or the wall. Often, this is used as the only way to get from point A to point B, so when you seem hopelessly trapped, you need only look up to find your way out.
