Vanbrio Entertainment today announced the release of Bone Act 1: Out from Boneville for the Macintosh. This game is the first installment of an episodic interactive adventure based on Jeff Smith’s acclaimed Bone series. The Mac version was created in partnership with Telltale, Inc., who previously published the title for Windows PCs.

The adventure begins with three cousins – Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone – who become separated in a vast, uncharted desert. One by one, they find their way into a deep, forested valley filled with wonderful and terrifying creatures and new mysteries that await them. The Bone books have been hailed by reviewers and educators alike as engaging for all ages.

“The engaging characters and storyline of Jeff Smith’s Bone series make for a very fun and family-friendly interactive adventure,” says Amy Torres, CEO of Vanbrio. “With great gameplay, beautiful animation and sound, fun puzzles and mini-games, all wrapped up in an episodic series, we knew Bone: Out from Boneville had to be on the Mac!”

“We believe the Bone series is the type of creative and innovative content that is really at home on the Mac. The team at Vanbrio did a great job in bringing it there,” added Telltale CEO Dan Connors.

Custer Remains Civilized
6:21 AM | Brad Custer | Comment on this story

"Civilization," this week's desktop celebrates Sid Meier's latest triumph: Civilization IV, a turn-based strategy game that has been well received by PC and Mac gamers from Aspyr Media.

Here's a clip from Brad on his latest:

After my first visit to the realm of Civilization IV from Aspyr Media a lot of you have been interested in my return to this great title. I enjoy honoring all your requests so this week I'm going to be civilized again. Many of the emails I received love the artwork featured on the box and I would agree that it would be great as a desktop so it was the foundation of my feature. I was able to make this week's wallpaper with the help of Aspyr Media and my trusty cable modem.
As always, those interested in downloading his creations can find them at Custer's Desktops.
