IMG Reviews Teddy Factory

IMG has posted a review of Teddy Factory, a casual game by Toybox Games. Here's a clip from the review:

There's something special about teddy bears. Often a source of comfort for young children, they hold a special place in most people's hearts. One thing I never expected to see, however, was a game where you took dismembered bears and assembled them as fast as you could. This is the main challenge of Teddy Factory.

WoW: PvP Interview, Bestiary Update
8:29 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story

In issue 19 of the World of Warcraft Insider, Blizzard Entertainment offers fans a new interview with lead game designer Tom Chilton. The Q&A focuses on PvP changes in store for the upcoming 1.12 patch as well as in The Burning Crusade expansion.

TC: Yes, one of our major features for the expansion that we're just now talking about is the Arena System. It's essentially a system of gladiatorial combat where players are going to be able to go into arenas in teams of two on two or three on three or five on five (at least that's what we're planning to start with) and duke it out on a ladder-based system to get some pretty cool rewards.

I: So will that be mostly within one faction, or will that also be two teams coming from different factions against each other?

TC: In this case, you can actually have Alliance teams fighting against Alliance teams and Horde teams fighting against other Horde teams. It really makes sense in the context of an arena of gladiatorial battles. It doesn't really make as much sense in the context of a battleground, where it's very much Alliance versus Horde...

In the Arena System, we'll be matching players up based on their rating, matching teams up based on their rating more specifically. I think it's a very important part of the arena concept that you actually form your team ahead of time, a lot like you create a guild. You'll form a team, you'll maintain your roster, and based on who you have on your team, you're going to be able to go into the battles. Let's say for example you create a five-on-five team. You can actually have more than five people on your team, so you‘ll have benchwarmers! [laughs]

Blizzard also recently updated the bestiary for The Burning Crusade, providing a glimpse of the benevolent Naaru, a race of sentient energy beings who seek to recruit an army of Light to combat the Burning Legion.
When Sargeras descended upon the eredar's homeworld, a race of sentient energy beings – the naaru – helped a small band of eredar to escape the dark titan's corruption. Soon the eredar refugees began calling themselves the draenei, or "exiled ones". Moved by the draenei's courage, the naaru blessed them with Light-given knowledge and power. Ultimately the benevolent naaru hoped to unite all who opposed the Burning Legion and forge these heroes into a single unstoppable army of the Light. In pursuit of that goal, the naaru have recently traveled to Outland in a dimensional fortress known as Tempest Keep. Most of the naaru disembarked to reconnoiter the ravaged land. In their absence, an army of blood elves led by Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider overran the keep and took its sole remaining guardian hostage. With Tempest Keep in blood elf hands, the naaru find themselves stranded in Outland, facing a precarious future.

Freeverse: Cider Will Not Impact Mac HoMM V
8:29 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment

In an email response to The Mac Centric: Heroes of Might and Magic V website, Freeverse's Colin Smith said TransGaming's announcement of Cider would have no effect on the release of HoMM V for the Mac. The upcoming Cider promises to "wrap" PC games in emulation software capable of rendering the games playable in OS X without the need for Windows or any tinkering on the part of the user.

Cider sounds very interesting... and I’ll be very curious to see how well it works. It wont have any impact on HOMMV though since that port is already underway.
HoMM V for Mac is slated for a Christmas release. More commentary on Cider can be found at the site listed below.

Update: Freeverse's Colin Smith let us know that the company is actively evaluating Cider for HoMM V.
