Voting for the 2006 Walk of Game awards is currently open. Located inside Sony's Metreon, an entertainment complex located in San Francisco, the Walk of Game has been honoring noted figures, characters, and game titles with permanent steel stars, much like Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Every year, gamers worldwide cast their vote on www.WalkOfGame.com to induct the next set of honorees to receive a permanent 24"x 24", customized steel star on the Walk of Game. From the list of nominees, the top four in the category of Games/Characters and the top two in Lifetime Achievement will be inducted. Inductees to date are: Nolan Bushnell, Shigeru Miyamoto, Halo, Link (The Legend of Zelda), Mario, and Sonic The Hedgehog. Some of the current nominees are StarCraft, Myst, Quake, and The Sims. Lifetime achievement nominees include Sid Meier, Will Wright, and Toru Iwatani.Interested voters must register with the site in order to submit a vote. However, nominees and current results can be viewed freely. Everquest is currently in the lead for the Games/Characters category, while John Carmack currently sits atop the Lifetime Achievement pile.

A Review In Black & White 11:53 AM | Cord Kruse | Comment on this story
Gamezilla recently posted a brief review of Black & White 2, Lionhead Studio's sequel to the successful Peter Molyneux and Ron Miller godsim. Improving on the gameplay of the original, B&W 2 managed to receive a "Recommended Buy" from Gamezilla. From the review: Truth be told, the original Black & White didn't wear well on me. After the initial 'wow' factor wore off, I found it to be relatively duldrum, essentially an extremely simple and enjoyable game that had some discouraging flaws. As such, I was a bit hesitant to pickup the sequel, but fortunately, it has wound up being better than I could've imagined. From improved creature mechanics, to a much more RTS style gameplay, Lionhead gave this game a good scrubbing from top to bottom, and it isn't all that dirty anymore. Feral Interactive recently announced it will be bringing B&W 2 to the Mac, possibly sometime early in 2006. Keep an eye on IMG for updates. To read the full review click on the link below.

Stubbs Reviewed 11:53 AM | Cord Kruse | 3 comments
Another review of Stubbs the Zombie has clawed its way to the surface. This time Aspyr and Wideload's zombie extravaganza is reviewed by Games First. Citing the game's clever premise and well executed gameplay, Games First gives Stubbs four out of five stars. From the review: Built on the Halo engine, Stubbs is an amazing example of how much can be achieved with a good tool. Stubbs is, in many ways nothing at all like Halo, and in other ways, very much like Halo. Obviously, the hordes of zombies who follow you are very much like your squadmates in Halo. And by the massive humans versus zombies battle at the climax, the game takes on a decidedly battle-like vibe. But this is not a first-person shooter, and in many respects Wideload has made almost every possible diversion from the content or feel of Halo. In general, the engine brings to the game a high level of technical quality and well-working gameplay that gives Stubbs the Zombie a very polished and expert feel. Although I still can't get the hang of that wonky Halo vehicle control. Stubbs and his zombie pals should be available on the Mac sometime in November. For the full review click on the link below.
