The Sims 2 Goes Gold
8:47 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

Aspyr Media today announced that The Sims 2 has been declared gold and will be shipping sometime in June. The best-selling sim game was ported to the Mac by Aspyr Studios and licensed from Electronic Arts. The company plans on making an announcement next week with more information on when the game will ship and an exact date on when the title will arrive on store shelves.

In The Sims 2, players pick one of five aspirations that will take them through an entire lifetime, from the cradle to the grave. Players will be able to choose from Popularity, Fortune, Family, Knowledge and Romance which will determine how each Sim will lead their life. With these aspirations, players can fulfill their Sims’ wants while avoiding their worst fears. Every choice that is made has a relevant and dramatic effect on the life of a Sim. Will players give them a long successful existence or leave their life in shambles?

More life-like Sims, all-new aspirational gameplay, and the ground-breaking addition of genetics, with the DNA of Sims passed down through generations, gives players a more vivid, realistic, and in-depth Sims experience. All of this takes place in a new amazingly realistic 3-D world.

MacGameStore.com is currently taking pre-orders for the game. It is available for $49.95.

In honor of the upcoming Memorial Day, IMG's own Brad Custer has designed this week's desktop after Asypr's expansion pack, Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour.

Here's what Brad had to say about his latest desktop:

Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour from Aspyr Media has been a hot request since our review of the expansion pack. With this being Memorial Day weekend, it seemed like the perfect time to honor those requests and our soldiers with this desktop. So, with the help of Aspyr Media and my cable modem I was able to create this selection.
To check out his latest creation, head over to Custer's Desktops.
