Dingo Games Releases Laser Dolphin

Dingo Games today announced the release of their first Macintosh game, Laser Dolphin. The game is a unique action-adventure game you must battle and swim your way through a variety of cute and dangerous enemies in your quest to save the Prime Minister from alien abduction.

Laser Dolphin features 50 levels spanning four worlds to explore. Each level is packed with interesting and dangerous foes including kamikaze turtles loaded with TNT, fish with missile launchers, laser turrets, and birds dropping bombs. As you'd expect, Laser Dolphin comes with a few surprises of his own including missiles, machine guns, light sabers, and yes, even lasers!

Once you have rescued the Prime Minister take Laser Dolphin for a spin in Stunt Mode, where you'll have to do back flips, spins, twists, glides, and even jump through hoops. Score points by doing more complicated tricks, but watch out for hitting rocks! When you are finished there try out Race Mode where you must swim through all the hoops in the allotted time. In both Stunt and Race Mode you'll be practicing valuable alien-defeating moves that will allow you to unlock new cheats and features in the game.

Aspyr Launches CSI: Dark Motives Site, Pre-Orders

Aspyr Media today announced that it has launched the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Dark Motives on the company's web site. In addition to information and screenshots, gamers are now able to pre-order the game, which is scheduled to ship in June.

Become a forensic investigator, and join the CSI team. CSI: Dark Motives is the second game based on the hit television series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Work in the field with the CSI cast, featuring the actors, atmosphere, voices and music from the show. Piece together evidence and discover the truth behind five grisly new crimes. Find the killers by using real-world forensic tools, such as fingerprint dusters, UV lights, a magnifying scope, and an enhanced microscope. Compare and match evidence in the improved crime lab, using examination techniques that will test your investigative skills.

CSI: Dark Motives is currently on track to ship in June. Both Aspyr and are currently taking pre-orders for the game.

Shadowbane Consolidates More Servers

The Shadowbane staff has announced another server consolidation. On May 29th, wave goodbye to Entropy and Vengeance, as they're being removed. The choices for transfer are:

• Mourning: Users from Entropy and Vengeance will be allowed to bring both their equipped items and inventories with them to Mourning. This only applies to a character's personal inventory, however. Banks cannot be transferred.

• Redemption: Users from Entropy and Vengeance will be allowed to bring their equipped items only with them to Redemption. Neither Banks nor personal Inventories can be transferred.

The migration will begin next Tuesday. Use the intervening time to make final relocation plans with your guild members, allies, and enemies. Also use this time to acquire the absolute best gear you can equip or hold in your inventory (if you are going to Mourning).

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Announced for PC

id Software and Activision have announced that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is in development now for the PC with developers Splash Damage. Splash Damage is the U.K. development house responsible for the original Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory game.

Quake Wars is an online multi-player, team-based shooter that pits the armies of Earth against the evil Strogg during the event that started the entire Quake series: the Strogg invasion of Earth.

As the invasion begins, players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the EDF (Earth Defense Force – humans) or the barbaric alien Strogg armies, each augmented with specialist weapons and combat hardware. Troops utilize over 40 conventional and futuristic vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems like quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to lend firepower from the air. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the enemy.
The game, which utilizes id's new Mega Texture™ rendering technology and the Doom 3 engine, has not been announced for the Macintosh, but id Software has an impressive track-record when it comes to the Mac, so we'll keep an eye on this one. Steve Polge on Unreal Tournament 2007

Beyond Unreal has posted an E3 interview with Unreal Tournament 2007 designer Steve Polge. The interview, given as Steve was demonstrating the new game at the annual video game industry mega-show, talks about the new physics engine, new vehicles, and more.

One of the more interesting aspects of UT2007 is a new game mode, called Conquest:

Conquest is Onslaught meets Assault, with the addition of optional missions. Basically, the idea is that there is a larger scale campaign with a battlefield situation back and forth. [Steve stops and blows up a Manta] And along the way you will have these optional missions that you can choose to do or not to do, but that can effect the outcome. For example, if you take out the command center then it will affect their ability to send stuff or maybe even take out an enemy bridge that keeps them from bringing their big weapons over. With the advantage of our seamless streaming technology the campaigns will be a much larger scale than Onslaught. Rather than having a single mission or objective it will feel like a campaign where the battlefield will move back and forth across multiple levels completely seamlessly. One of the things we think that make Unreal Tournament what it is is that you have very intense situations and you are never out of combat for very long. The actual battlefield or frontline where you'll be fighting at any time will be a relatively small area where everybody is focused and fighting together.
While UT2007 has yet to be officially announced for the Macintosh, the Unreal Engine 3 that it is based on is being ported to the Mac. Time will tell. Head over to Beyond Unreal to read the rest of the interview, and stick with IMG for further announcements on this exciting title.

Tamte Talks Destineer

Online gaming site Gamecloud has posted a quick interview with Destineer Studio's Peter Tamte. Destineer recently released the Marine tactical shooter Close Combat: First to Fight.

Tamte talks about the aquisition of Atomic Games, original developers of the Close Combat series, and the future of Destineer.

He had this to say about the next Close Combat game, Red Phoenix:

Close Combat: Red Phoenix is a military RTS based on the Larry Bond bestseller “Red Phoenix,” and based on work Atomic is doing with the US Marine Corps. You will lead a reinforced rifle platoon during an all-too-real second Korean War.
