Deep Trouble Sequel in Developement
12:32 PM | Conrad Quilty-Harper | Comment on this story

Codeblender Software has announced that a sequel to Deep Trouble is in development. Deep Trouble 2 will continue the theme of fast paced underwater action from the original game along with improvements in graphics and sound.

From Codeblender's site:

We are currently working on Deep Trouble 2, the exciting sequel to our original and highly popular action game Deep Trouble.

This time the underwater aliens are fiercer than ever. Your combat and strategic skills will be put to the test as you fight to uncover the mysteries of the underwater colony-world.

Deep Trouble 2 features gorgeous and detailed graphics made possible by the use of OpenGL's vertex and fragment shaders.

Bump mapping, dynamic shadows and other advanced techniques add to the highly detailed graphics. OpenAL is being used to bring out great sound effects that will immerse you into the game.

Deep Trouble 2 is expected to reach beta status soon and more information about release date and system requirements will be announced later.

Stronghold 2 Previewed for PC
12:39 PM | Mike Apps | Comment on this story

Underground Online, a popular site covering Games and Movies and the like, recently ran a preview of the upcoming sequel to the popular Castle Sim/RTS game Stronghold 2. The preview covers the various new gameplay elements in the game, along with the graphics improvements. Here's a snippet:

The previous Stronghold title was the first game to combine the ever-popular Real-Time Strategy game with a robust castle SIM. Not only were you engaged in siege warfare, but also you were responsible for the creation and daily upkeep of a medieval castle. It was a very ambitious game, and its sequel, Stronghold 2, is even more so.

What we saw looked impressive, with the most obvious improvement being its brand new 3D engine which makes Stronghold 2 look considerably better than its predecessor. Players have basic control over the camera, so now you are able to observe all your castle's glory from many different angles. There is only one environment; the medieval countryside, filled with lush forests, rolling hills and blue skies. Although you are limited to this one setting, it did look beautiful and expertly rendered.

Lux Creator Interviewed
12:13 PM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

GamersInfo has recently posted the results of an interview with Dustin Sacks, creator of Lux. Inspired by the classic strategy boardgame Risk, Lux takes the world-conquering formula and runs with it, allowing for map creation and online play.

The interview covers various topics, including Sacks' dissatisfaction with other Risk-style games leading to the creation of Lux. He also notes how the name Lux came about, as well as how the map creation system was inspired.

The game was designed from the start to be able to handle arbitrary board layouts. An eager user then contacted me volunteering to create the map from Risk (kudos to AJ Bertenshaw). With his help I tweaked the map format to include some more elements that were needed. Once that happened I published the map file format on the web and users started creating new and funky designs.
Other topics include the possibility of a sequel, favorite maps, and future updates to Lux. More information on Lux itself can be found at Sillysoft's site.

  • First, if you host a LAN server for your friends at home at the time of a LAN party. But perhaps someone can not come! No problem, he runs AAIP et type the LAN's external IP (or DNS).
  • Otherwise, if your are not enought you can create a "Global" server (which is listable by all other online players). Usually your friends on your LAN could not join your global server, but with AAIP they can! Just by typing your local IP (or DNS).

Apple has posted an extensive six page feature on Blizzard's just released online role-playing game, World of Warcraft. The feautre includes in-depth information about the character classes and gameplay found in the game as well as tip and tricks, code charts, screenshots, and more.

Here's a clip from the feature:

Some quests in the game build into a series, with each new mission more dangerous than the last, while others are single tasks. All, however, earn you rewards, in the form of money and/or special items, as well as experience points that help you progress to the next level, which brings with it more power and abilities.

“Much of the story in World of Warcraft is told through quests and, to a lesser extent, the ambience and environment of the zones,” explains Blizzard. “There are literally thousands of quests, through which you learn more about the current state of Azeroth and the continuing threat of the Undead Scourge, remnants of the demon invasion from Warcraft III.”
