Myth II Mod: The Fallen's Vengeance Demo
8:38 AM | Mike Apps | Comment on this story

A new Myth II mod is currently in the works that may interest Myth fans. Entitled The Fallen's Vengeance, the mod takes place many years after the end of the Myth series, where evil has not been completely destroyed.

Here's a short description of the mod:

The Fallen's Vengeance if you read the Myth IV and Soulblighter's son threads is the next stage in Myth set 940 years after Soulblighter when it proves the light and dark cycle has in fact not been broken.

The Fallen's Vengeance is a Solo Campaign with new units, models, maps, world map ....etc.

Also to be released after the TFV solo campaign will be a multiplayer map set which will also contain things from the Solo such as the new units.

The Website which is
is currently down right now as it's getting a fresh new revamp by my co-worker Mr Graydon.

In addition, a demo of the mod is currently available on PlayMyth:
The much anticipated and long awaited 'The Fallen's Vengeance Demo' is ready for the masses. An HTML Read-Me gives some story background information, character information, and info on how to use the 'Extras' items! The Demo includes 3 single player maps, and 2 all new Multi maps. Unfortunately our webhost has gone temporarily out of service so TFV Demo file is hosted HERE for the time being. Once the new website is re-hosted and running smoothly you will be able to find the Demo package permanently available in the Downloads section.

Logitech has introduced three new game controllers including the Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2, the Logitech RumblePad 2, and the new Logitech Precision GamePad. All controllers connect to the Mac through the USB port, and all work on either the Mac or PC platform.

Here's a bit more info from the press release:

For those who want the freedom to compete without cords, the Logitech® Cordless RumblePad™ 2 makes the perfect playing partner. The Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 uses Logitech´s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology, including frequency hopping that eliminates potential wireless interference and ensures peak performance. The Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 requires only two AA batteries, which are estimated to last for more than 100 hours of play. It features dual-vibration feedback for extra realism with every hit, crash and explosion.

The Logitech® RumblePad™ 2 is a great value for gamers looking for a full feature set in a corded controller. It includes Logitech´s dual-vibration feedback. Both the Logitech RumblePad 2 and the Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 feature an improved 8-way D-pad and dual analog control sticks for maximum control, along with a special-textured rubber grip for added comfort.

For gamers who want a sturdy, reliable, affordable controller that still looks great, Logitech is introducing the new Logitech® Precision™ GamePad. This is Logitech´s most affordable game controller — with a suggested retail price of $9.99 in the U.S. Plus, it has added appeal, with its translucent blue color.

Moofie Mac Game Award Voting Begins
8:38 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

It's time once again for the annual Moofie Awards. Conducted by the folks at Applelinks, The Moofie Awards take a look at the Mac games of the previous year, bestowing various awards, such as Best Short Film, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay, on a select number of titles.

This year sees a diverse mix of nominees, with no single game dominating as did Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos last year. Role playing games led the way, with the largest number of nominations going to Neverwinter Nights and Dungeon Siege. Ironically, Neverwinter Nights did not receive a nomination for "Best Picture," as committee members felt the game's horrible ending overshadowed its other merits. On the other hand, Aliens vs. Predator 2 did receive a "Best Picture," nomination despite having been nominated for only one other award.
Other nominees for various categories include NOLF2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Ghost Recon: Desert Siege.

Voting polls have been opened, and will remain so until June 11th. For those that need some incentive to vote, a drawing for prizes donated from various companies, including Aspyr, Feral, and Freeverse, will be held as well.

id to Start New Game Soon
8:38 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story

According to an E3 report from Boomtown, Todd Hollenshead of id Software has said the company plans to move onto their next project almost immediately after completing Doom 3 this summer. Fans of the company's work might be interested to note it won't be another sequel either:

[Hollenshead] also clarified that the game in question was a new intellectual property, and was not a "Doom", "Quake" or "Wolfenstein" game.

Details on game are still extremely scarce but Hollenshead did say that id will start serious work on it very soon, possibly in a matter of days, after moving on from the PC and later Xbox releases of Doom 3.

Stay tuned to IMG for the latest on Doom 3 as it moves towards release and any information regarding a Mac version is revealed.

Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge in Beta for OS X
8:38 AM | Mike Apps | Comment on this story

Fans of the Marathon Map Maker's Guild Marathon mod Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge may be delighted to learn that an OS X version of the scenario is on its way. Currently in beta stages, the MMMG website notes the OS X port has made it to version 0.2 and is using the open-sourced Aleph One project as its base.

For those unfamiliar with the scenario, here's a short description:

EMR is the sequel to the very popular Devil in a Blue Dress scenario, the MMMG's first scenario release. The EMR adventure, spread across 37 solo levels, weaves a tale of truth and honor, knighthood and bravery, darkness and treachery. EMR also delivers 26 adrenaline pumped network levels. Challenge your friends in environments ranging from untamed raptor-infested jungles, to castle arenas, to war-torn streets of the future.

The MMMG is currently looking for beta testers to ensure that the game runs bug-free under OS X. Unlike EMR for Infinity, EMR for OS X does not require that you own Marathon or Marathon Infinity. It is based upon the open source Aleph One engine, and everything you need to play EMR for OS X is available for download. Beta testers will also get to help critique newly revised hi-res textures and 3D objects. If you are interested in beta testing, subscribe to the MMMG mailing list and express your interest.
