Mac Halo Release Date Update
6:00 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story

The news Mac gamers have been waiting for has finally arrived. According to MacSoft's official Halo page, the Mac version of Halo will see release on December 11, 2003. While this is slightly updated from an earlier date from the company, Bungie's highly lauded first-person shooter will be gracing the screens of Mac gamers before the holidays.

Though anyone who has a remote interest in gaming should know what Halo is about by now, here's a clip from MacSoft's website as a reminder:

You are the last of your kind. Bred for combat, built for war. You will fight on foot, in vehicles, in the air and beneath the surface of a mysterious alien ring orbiting in the depths of space.
The computer version of Halo will include features not found in the Xbox version, including new weapons and a larger variety of available vehicles for the multiplayer games.

Those who have been waiting patiently for this one won't need to wait much longer. Combat Evolved is on its way.

IMG Previews Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield
12:17 PM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story

Inside Mac Games recently had the opportunity to play a late Mac beta build of the latest chapter in the popular Rainbow Six series, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. This first person tactical shooter offers a well written story by Tom Clancy and exciting gameplay. Stealth and good planning are two important parts needed to succeed with your mission.

A small excerpt from the preview:

Enemies, when alerted to your presence, will often find secure hiding spots where they can get their back to a wall and face the direction they expect you to come from. These situations can be challenging depending on the environment. In other instances they will come looking for you. If you run around Raven Shield shooting wildly at everything you will end up dead rather fast.

Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield is aimed for a release in December from the Mac publisher Aspyr Media. It is currently available for pre-order from the IMG Store at a price of $48.95, or $43.95 if you are a MacGames CD or IMG Pro subscriber.
