New Shadowbane Map Coming
8:39 AM | Alvaro Radigales | Comment on this story

The development team of Shadowbane, the well-known MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), recently announced on their official web site that a completely new world-sized game map is in the works. While most of the development team is busy fixing a few gameplay issues to make Shadowbane's online experience the most enjoyable, the level designers are preparing a revolutionary online battlefield that will take the title's strategy element to the limit.

Here are some of the features this new land will offer, as quoted from the Shadowbane web site:

  • First of all the new world will have a new name and history. One of the Safeholds will be completely redesigned and built and will be a prominent city from the lore. The exact city will be named sometime in the future.
  • All zones in the new world will be grouped together by terrain: grasslands will be together, large swamps, deserts, and forests will also be grouped together and spread across the two continents.
  • The new map will contain many strategic choke points of†control over various drops and resources. We expect to a lot more conflict over resource consumption in this world.
  • One more commander discipline dropper will be added to the map.
For the full, huge list of new features and details included in this new online arena, be sure to check Shadowbane's official web site through the link below.

IMG Reviews Burning Monkey Solitaire 3, Demo Released
4:00 PM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story

IMG has posted a review of Freeverse's latest and greatest game, Burning Monkey Solitaire 3. Here's a clip from the review:

The folks over at Freeverse Software have proven themselves time and time again to be the masters of card games. Nobody can compete with their renditions of Hearts or Spades, and the online play features in those games are phenomenal. They have truly isolated the market, and I donít need to mention how excited I was to have the opportunity to review their latest game, Burning Monkey Solitaire 3. Having played the previous editions, I had a good idea of what to expect, but I was still blown out of the water.
In related news, Freeverse has just released a demo of the game and is available for download from their web site. Be sure to check it out.

America's Army Q&A
8:39 AM | Alvaro Radigales | Comment on this story

MilitarySim.com, a web site devoted to the online combat simulator America's Army, recently posted a brief interview with Abraxas, executive producer of the title. The interview covers the details of the latest version of America's Army giving first-hand information on the most requested features it includes:

MS- Do you consider the release of version 1.9 to be the best and most successful version yet?

[DEV]Abraxas - Yes, I do. Version 1.9 brought us much closer to my original expectations for this game. Subsequent versions will see even more improvements. I'm very pleased at the progress this team has made, and I feel that our recent accomplishments has raised the game to a new level.

MS- Will you now only focus on Special Forces or are there other stuff on the to-do list?

[DEV]Abraxas - There are always other things on our To-Do list. Special Forces is a major facet that we are focusing on, but we have many other goals as well.

Medal of Honor: Breakthrough Announced for PC
8:39 AM | Alvaro Radigales | Comment on this story

Our fellow French colleagues at LudoMac recently let us know that shortly after the announcement of Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault for the PC, a new expansion called Breakthrough has been revealed on the Electronic Arts web site.

This brand new title of the Medal of Honor series will follow the steps of a new American hero, sergeant John Baker, through the fierce battles of the Mediterranean theatre. Here's a snip of what LudoMac has to say about the game, translated from French:

The of course takes place in the Second World War, from 1943 to 1944, during which the player will incarnate John Baker, sergeant of the US Army. You will join the american troops in North Africa, later heading to Sicily and finally arriving to Italy for the historic battle of Monte Batagglia.

The game promises new weapons, new maps, skins (Italian and English, American and German) and mods (Liberation) for its multiplayer mode. In order to play, the expansion will require a copy of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.

As of now, no word has been given on the estimated release date for the PC version. Needless to say, a Mac port of the title has not even been suggested. So far, Aspyr Media has made sure that Mac gamers could enjoy every Medal of Honor title on their machines, so chance is that if the PC version sells well enough, a Macintosh port would be likely. Still, we would like to stress that, right now, this is only speculation.

The francophones among our readers should head to LudoMac for the full article. For an English overview of the game, don't forget to visit Electronic Arts' official Breakthrough mini site.
