Myth II Update and OS X Installer Released
7:25 AM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story

MythDevelopers and ProjectMagma have released a new update for Bungie's classic Real-time strategy game Myth II: Soulblighter. The new version is 1.4.3 and is said to be the final patch for the game. Besides an upcoming Linux port, this represents the end of the development cycle for Myth II version 1.4.

Changes in 1.4.3

  • Dwarves no longer drop lit bottles on hard death.
  • Improved FPS performance with DirectDraw on Windows and OpenGL on Macintosh.
  • Support for Myth 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 films playback
  • Input issues on Macintosh OS X have been eliminated.
  • Separate Anti-Clump and vTFL options
  • Changed double-click for melee to double-shift-click.
  • Willow Creek ghast bug fixed.
  • Numerous vTFL improvements
  • Eliminate Chat Lag option in preferences now available for Mac and PC
  • Many melee targeting issues resolved.
  • In addition to the update, MythDevelopers has released a Myth II installer for OS X. This makes it easier for people that still haven't installed the game on an OS X machine yet since the installer will enable a full install without starting up a classic environment. The installer will update the game to 1.4.3 as well. To get the 1.4.3 patch or the OS X installer, head over to The Mill and snag them today.

IMG would like to thank the people at MythDevelopers and ProjectMagma for all the hard work they've put in this project.

    Worms 3D Status Update
7:25 AM | Johan Hansén | Comment on this story

The developers at Team17 has posted another status update on their upcoming 3D person ballistic shooter Worms 3D. The game is getting closer and closer to completion and it's a lot of balancing going on to make the game as fun as possible.

    From the update:

Work on the gameplay continues, and we're really closing down on the game balance stuff now, and we're almost there. The similarities to the game in 2D is uncanny, but the progression from 2D Worms is pretty remarkable. The feel of the game is different, yet at the same time, comfortably familiar.
New strategies, play styles, game modes and suchlike will emerge and you'll also be able to play/recreate many of the old type of games. But it's important to understand that you won't be able to do things exactly like you could in 2d because it's all new and different. We've done certain things (like alter the energy transferred in blasts) to ensure the game plays well - but a lot of it will not be obvious at first.

Worms 3D has been confirmed to come to the Mac, but besides the fact that it is coming, not much else has been said about it. Hopefully more information about the Mac version will be revealed now when the PC and console versions are so far along the development cycle.
