The Omni Group Featured in Seattle Times
2:19 PM | Lucian Fong | Comment on this story
The Seattle Times Business and Technology section published a short interview with the president of The Omni Group, Wil Shipley. The interview discusses their origins and briefly touches on his "relationship" with Microsoft. Here, Shipley reminisces about the "golden years" at Omni:
Living it up: Programming brought in "gobs of money" for Shipley and his friends in those early days, he said. They did what most twentysomethings would do: spent it — on a theater system, pinball machines, air-hockey tables, foosball tables and video-game systems, including the legendary Atari Jaguar. "Normal geek stuff," he said. The company still employs a chef who cooks lunch and dinner for the staff every workday.Of course, Mac gamers know Omni for porting many of their favorite games, most recently recently Aliens vs. Predator 2 and the upcoming No One Lives Forever 2.

Blizzard Posts Frozen Throne Release Party Feature
8:25 AM | Tuncer Deniz | Comment on this story
Blizzard has posted a feature detailing the release parties that took place on July 1st, the day the company shipped its expansion pack, The Frozen Throne, for Warcraft III. The release party took place two Fry's stores in California.
Here's a clip from the feature:
At both locations, customers started lining up early, and there was quite a line by 11:30 p.m. on Monday night. The lines were several persons wide and went all the way around the building! The parking lot at the Fountain Valley store was full and some people had to park down the street (it's a HUGE parking lot too). When the doors opened, customers started forming lines (filling up the aisles) to purchase Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Blizzard had signings at the same locations last year for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, and this time there were even more people! At 12:00 a.m. the registers were opened and people began buying games and accessories. The first 500 people (while supplies lasted) also received a free Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne T-shirt. After making their purchases, customers could then line up for autographs. To check out the entire feature, please follow the link below. Wacraft III: The Frozen Throne is available through the IMG Store for $34.95.
