Though the Mac is hardly bereft of video card options these days, the current "we can do it better" war between ATI and Nvidia has brought numerous new entries into the market. While we haven't heard any concrete news regarding Mac versions of any of the latest offerings, a product overview PDF featuring the GeForce FX 5900 has some intriguing information in the compatible operating system section: BROAD OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORT- Microsoft Windows XP

While this is not exactly an official announcement, it definitely invites the possibility of a Mac version of the card. Blizzard recently updated their Battle.net page with a little tidbit about the upcoming patch for Diablo II. This upcoming patch has been in the works for months, and promises to make drastic changes to Diablo II's play both offline and online. One of the major changes are a number of reworked skills. From Battle.net: Many of the skills for each character class have been thoroughly revised. For example, the Assassin?s Phoenix Strike now receives numerous bonuses from other skills The patch is currently going through Blizzard's quality assurance department, and is slated to be released sometime in the next few weeks. The latest version of the popular Rocket Arena mod for Quake III has been released. The idea behind the mod is to create a sort of duel arena, where each player starts with the same amount of weapons and ammo. The mod resembles duel mode in Jedi Knight 2, where players wait in line for their turn to duel. Here's a list of updates in the latest version: Rocket Arena 3 1.65 is now available for download. This version includes a number of bug fixes for 1.6 including: Shaft gfx pointed at ground, Falling damage sounds, Specinvite messages, Player lean, End-Of-Round window bugs, Flood protection, Better stats, Floor damage bugfixes, Arena selection menu fixes, Crosshairs, Competition mode gives a black screen for spectators not following a player. Taking a look at a title for the younger generation of Mac gamers, Apple has posted a feature examining THQ's recently-released Finding Nemo. Based on the upcoming movie by Pixar, Nemo is a colorful adventure story that challenges players to a variety of games and puzzles: You switch back and forth between the two storylines as you guide Marlin and Nemo through 10 adventure-filled levels. Each level features a variety of mini-games and puzzles that test reflexes and analytical skills. such as Marlin and Dory's escape from a sunken submarine where a shark named Bruce - who's trying to swear off eating other fish - is in a feeding frenzy. Completing challenges awards a series of prizes as well as the ability to view various clips from the movie itself.In addition to various pictures from the game, Apple's feature also contains a list of the major characters from the movie as well as purchasing information.

Players currently enjoying Wolfpack's MMORPG Shadowbane should be pleased to hear that several new additions have been made to both the class and discipline listings. The last of the classes, including the Thief, Wizard, and Scout, have been updated to include information on the various powers and spells that can be accrued. Several disciplines, including the Blade Weaver and the Animator, have also been updated with available power listings, which should make character creation decisions easier in the future. Here's a small example from the Blade Weaver discipline: Find Weakness "Single Target Melee Resistance Debuff" Granted: Level 20 - Duration: 30 seconds - Crushing Resistance: -5 to -25 (from power rank 0 to 20) - Piercing Resistance: -5 to -25 (from power rank 0 to 20) - Slashing Resistance: -5 to -25 (from power rank 0 to 20) For those unfamiliar with the title, Shadowbane features a persistent online world constantly reshaped by the players themselves, as guilds form alliances and clash with others in a bid for power. The programmer Darrell Walisser has released an update of his Xbox HID Driver, an extension that allows the use of Xbox controllers in Mac OS X, provided you have the right USB adapter for it. The new version is 1.1 and has added support for more devices than the standard Xbox controller. Here's the full list of changes: Supports DVD Remote Control Supports "S" controller (AKA "Small" or "Japanese" controller) Supports 3rd-party controllers Face buttons (X,Y,A,B,White,Black) are now compatible with most games You can download the Xbox HID Driver from Darrell Walisser's website.
