I recently had the opportunity to ask Virtual Programming CEO Mark Hinton about the company's upcoming game schedule, and VP's efforts to update their game catalog to be compatible with Apple's 10.7 Lion OS release.

Cord Kruse: What does Virtual Programming have on the schedule for the remainder of the year? Any exciting new titles fans should be eagerly anticipating? Any hints about upcoming games that have yet to be officially revealed?

Mark Hinton: Inside VP, we're really excited about Hearts of Iron 3: For the Motherland, which takes players back to World War II and the situation in the Soviet Union between 1936 and 1948. Among the new features is the partisan system, which lets you organize an underground resistance.

We're also looking forward to World Challenge Golf 2011, which stars golf pro Hank Haney, who used to be Tiger Woods' coach. That one is a serious competitor to Tiger's own game.

And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Europa Universalis III Chronicles, which bundles the original game and its expansions in one handy package, as well as Elven Legacy, where fantasy themes reign.

CK: Earlier this year VP released a number of patches to make its games compatible with Apple's new 10.7 OS. Has the transition been a smooth one so far?

MH: It's gone really well. We haven't had many issues, thanks to our handy page of Lion updates, which we've done our best to publicize: http://www.vpltd.com/lionupdates/

Unfortunately, if you bought one of our games through the Mac App Store, you can't use those updates, but rest assured they were sent through Apple's approvals process. Of course, at that point we're at Apple's mercy, and the update may not be available for a few days or even a week or two.
