Beyond Shadowgate

Shadowgate has a sequel 30 years after! Beyond Shadowgate on Steam.

No Mac version though, while both the remake and the port of the original version have one.

I played the Mac version back in the 80s, but was quite young and didn't get far. I own the modern versions, but must shamefully admit I never found time to play them.

I think this sequel was also a remake of an old game, originally for the NES. The style looks very different from the original SG. I never played it though.

I didn't get very far with the remade SG either. I have outgrown that style of adventure game: sudden-death; plus a game clock with a hard deadline that force you to replay parts of the game to optimize your play. Plus there's a lot of trial and error -- am I dying for doing something wrong, or am I missing an item?

The remake lets you turn down/off some of those things, but at the time I had too much pride to turn them off. I am my own worst enemy sometimes! If I try it again I'll definitely turn them down/off, and also not beat myself up for using hints.
