| Call of Duty 3 |
 |
This probably the shortest review I've ever written.
Call of Duty 3 is Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 with improved graphics. The controls, weapons, and sound are essentially the same. The multiplayer is so-so (even on Xbox Live) and the split-screen is terrible.
Graphics: Great. Facial textures are still a little flat but the reflections off of helmets and tanks are top-notch.
Gameplay: Same thing as Call of Duty. And Call of Duty 2. The Wii version adds some interesting gameplay but we won't be seeing a Wii-mote compatible version for the Mac. Its not bad gameplay, just nothing new or worth mentioning.
Story: You follow Allied soldiers from all three sects of the Alliance around various locales. You know the story: kill as many Nazi's as you can.
Sound: Amazing sound, especially when hooked up to a surround sound system. Bullets zip past your ear, mortars seem to explode right on top of you, and air strikes are all beautifully done.
Controls: JAFPS (just another first-person shooter). Think Halo controls for the Xbox and you won't be far off.
Conclusion: Good game to rent for a few days and play through the campaign. I can't see anyone dedicating their lives to the multiplayer though.
