IMG: A Very Good Deal

It is rare that forces align correctly to have a large impact upon the Mac gaming world for me. The last really big event was when Microsoft was bought by Bungie to further their plans for world domination. (Any self-proclaimed hard-core Bungie fan who did not see that one coming a light year away is actually hard-core blind.) A big thing recently happened for me when there was a conjunction of my state tax refund and the current Inside Mac Games sale.

My initial intent was simply to support a website that I enjoy everyday. However, after taking advantage of what IMG was offering, there is a part of me saying, "Did they really make any money from that?"

I got the two year subscription to the IMG DVD and IMG Pro. I also got to choose four free games. And I got a IMG T-Shirt. And a $10-off coupon on a future order from the IMG store. And Game Doctor came with it too. What did I pay? I paid $89. Purchased separately, the total would have been over $250!

I was expecting to get CD-only "full versions" of the games. That is what happens with a lot of specials from many companies. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I got the boxed "full versions" of the games. It is always nice to have a printed manual to read while one is occupied upon the throne of life. Unfortunately, my current Mac is a bit too under-powered to play any of the games I choose. Once the federal tax refund arrives, I plan on getting a processor upgrade. (Don't worry, I know not to get any of the upgrades without L3 caches.)

The only hiccup in the whole process was that the IMG Store forgot to send me the $10-off coupon. I sent them an email and they quickly fixed that. All-in-all I am very pleased with the deal that I got. I give this IMG sale experience a 9 out of 10.

(OK, I was shocked too. I couldn't believe that Bungie joined forces with Microsoft. In my defense, although I was a Bungie fan, I was not a hard-core fanatic. I also didn't take all of the world domination talk serious. I waited until the end of this blog entry to admit the truth mostly so that I could see how many flaming replies I get from people who didn't read the whole blog entry. :-)
