Pahelika: Revelations is a graphical adventure game created by Ironcode Gaming. This charming adventure offers great graphics, good music and audio, and plenty of puzzles and spaces to investigate.
Revelations comes after the first game in the series, Pahelika: Secret. After suffering your “normal” nightmare, you begin the adventure in a storage room. You soon find a hidden door, which ultimately leads you into a magical adventure to a wizard's castle, a dark haunted library, and much more. Each space you enter is nicely rendered, and full of detail. This makes for a pleasant space to search for items and figure out clues to solves the game’s puzzles. Some puzzles are easy to figure out, others might require finding a poem or other document and interpreting the text. Transition between areas of the game are done in a comic-like series of screens with voice overs that describe more and more of the story to you.
Pahelika: Revelations offers a “Casual” mode that lets one play without needing to complete the more complex puzzles and provides lots of hints and directions as you play. However, I didn’t think it was really necessary to use this mode. The game isn’t crazy hard, but it will get you thinking. The biggest issue I had with the puzzles, is that the game, having been developed in India, uses dates and other cultural references that are unfamiliar to this western reviewer. The Internet can be a help in these cases!
Pahelika: Revelations is a fun and rewarding game, worth taking the time to play and enjoy. The game is being released to the Apple App store on November first, and is already available for Windows.
