Unreal Tournament 2004 Demo Soon...? 8:45 AM | Jean-Luc Dinsdale | Comment on this story
In a moderated chat session Thursday night on the enterthegame.com IRC channel, members of the public got a chance to fire a silo of questions at the Epic Games developers responsible for the company's latest multiplayer shooter, Unreal Tournament 2004. In the near-two hour marathon session, Epic's president Mark Rein, developers Joe Wilcox and Cliffy Blewzinski, and programmer Ryan Gordon fielded questions ranging from game content to tournament rules to whether or not all three game platforms will support voice-over-ip. While the chat was long, informative, and sometimes confusing, the biggest thrill of the night came at the end of the chat, when Mark Rein took charge of the conversation. Amid much fanfare, Mark announced: The demo will be out within two weeks. While it would seem that this tidbit would be good news for players, skepticism abounds regarding the nature of Rein's statement. Once the chat ended, posters in the Unreal forums were quick to point out that there seens to be a "two week" running joke over at Epic. According to fans, the last time Epic promised a two week turnaround was for a demo of the PC version of UT 2K3, which finally took two months to complete.Check out the chat log through the link below.
