The 2002 Happypenguin Award winner for Best Free 3D Action Game, Cube, has found its way to the Macintosh. There is a downloadable package available at Derek Arndt's homepage. The current package includes the game as well as the Dedicated Server application for Multiplayer games. At the moment the game is only networkable with other MacOS X players.
From Derek Arndt's site:
Cube. For most people that's a meaningless word, but for some people they know it's a popular Linux FPS. You can check out the main page here. Since this has been ported to just about every great platform it's only natural it would come to OS X eventually. A guy named Jeremy Bell tried a little while back and it seemed like we wouldn't even have to wait till Halloween to get our little Mac hands on it. Fast forward to today, he doesn't respond to e-mails, nor does anyone know what happened to him. It seemed like a great game so I grabbed what he had already done and just finished the port. That's right kids, I'm now releasing a fully packaged version of Cube to the OS X folks.Feel free to download the game and let Derek know how it works for you. There is still some testing going on with the Dedicated Server and if you feel that you would like to help Derek test, keep an eye out on our forums to get the time for the next server test.
