3D Graphics Shootout: 2.7GHz MacBook Pro 6:00 AM | Cord Kruse | 1 comment
Barefeats has posted the results of another 3D Graphics Shootout, this one comparing the 15" 2.7GHz MacBook Pro (GeForce 9600M GT) with its 2.6GHz MacBook Pro (GeForce 8600M GT) predecessor, as well as the 3.06GHz iMac (GeForce 8800 GS), and the 3.2GHz Mac Pro (GeForce 8800 GT). Games used in the benchmarks include Enemy Territory Quake Wars 1.5 and Halo UB 2.03. The "late 2008" 15" 2.8GHz MacBook Pro* is about 21% faster than its fastest predecessor (2.6GHz MBP) when it comes to 3D graphics benchmarks. However don't expect it to be faster than the fastest iMac or Mac Pro with roughly comparable graphics processors. A fast laptop Mac is not yet the equal of a fast desktop Mac. Some of you have requested comparisions to various other Mac configurations. We will add more as we have a chance to retest them with the latest version of Mac OS X and 3D apps. Visit the page linked below to view all the results.
