Interested in trying your hand in the operating room? Then head over to educational game developer EdHeads.org and check out their Virtual Knee Surgery online game.
Virtual Knee Surgery puts players in the blue medical booties of a surgeon and walks them through every step of performing a knee surgery on a 76-year-old man. Through the use of flash animation, players learn about each step required for the operation, as well as learning about the use of other surgery procedures, such as dressing wounds and the proper way to handle a scalpel. The game, created for students in grades 7-12, also has an option to view photos of a real knee surgery, which is not recommended for the faint of heart.
If working on the body's largest joint doesn't sound that appealing, the non-profit game developers also offer a weather reporting and predicting game for grades 4-9, and a "Simple Machines" house tour for grades 2-6.
