Mac Version Of Uru In Doubt

Back in February, IMG brought you news that Cyan had officially announced the Mac version of Uru: Ages Beyond Myst, the next chapter in the highly popular Myst series. Since then, not much has been heard about the Mac version of Uru, until today. According to a post to the Uru mailing list by Cyan's Chief Technical Officer, Mark Deforest, the Mac version of Uru may never happen because of a technical problem.
Here's the post:
The Mac version of Uru has a different problem. In Uru, we used a commercial library that doesn't have a Mac version (initially we were led to believe there was) and the company that created it doesn't seem to be interested in making a Mac version. Or if they do, not in a timely manner (even after pressure from Apple). Unfortunately, this library is heavily intertwine with our engine code.Although it hasn't been officially cancelled, Deforest's post strongly suggests that the end is near.
All is not lost, however. In the same post, Deforest says that Cyan's next game, code-named Something Else™, will be using an open source libary that already has a Mac version.
