Mac Homeworld 1 Development Update 8:44 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
A recent update was recently posted in the forums by LMOP regarding the current status of Homeworld for OS X. The Mac code has been worked on, and its changes are currently being worked into the Linux version, for several reasons. Michael sent me the Macintosh code last week which I've now got working on my Mac and have been playing around with ever since. We've been sending a lot of email too and fro talking about the code which has been very enlightening. I'm currently working on getting the Macintosh code changes incorporated into the Linux port's codebase. This has three advantages:1) It makes it much easier for Michael, myself and anyone else who may join us later on, to exchange code fixes/enhancements. 2) If the Linux port sees a resurgence in activity then we will automatically pick up any game related fixes they make. 3) It makes it a lot harder for us to lose all the hard work that's been done up until now! An official website has also gone up, offering a download of the current code as well as instructions on how to implement it.For those unfamiliar with the project, Homeworld for OS X is a volunteer effort to enable an OS X version of the popular spacefaring title. More information can be found in the related forum thread.
