IMG reader Mark Conrad emailed us to let us know of a significant update to one of the longest running and beloved sports titles ever created, PlayMaker Football. Originally released in 1989, the developers recently released a version of the game playable in OS X. The last time the game was updated was back in 2000, nearly five years ago.
Here's more from the PlayMaker web site:
We are happy to announce the first upgrade of PlayMaker Football for the MacOS in 5 years! The new version offers a much more convenient environment to design and simulate your plays, and all at blazing speed. Now users of MacOS 7 through MacOS X can take advantage of features like large views and background processing.PMFB is available as "keyware". You simply download the PlayMaker Football Installer and install it on your computer. The program will run and allow you to check out all the features, but you won't be able to save your work. If you like what you see, simply purchase an authorization code for PMFB from the PlayMaker Store and pay $25 to get the authorization code to unlock the full version of the game.
To download the game, head over to our sister site, Macgamefiles.com.
[Update]: It seems the game now runs properly in OS X's "Classic" mode, but it's not a native OS X application.
