Glenda Talks Mac Generals

Planet Command & Conquer has posted an interview with Glenda Adams of Aspyr on the topic of Command & Conquer: Generals. Generals recently saw release on the Mac, and the interview itself covers a variety of questions concerning the porting of such a title.
One of the questions addressed concern various porting issues when bringing a title over from the PC to the Mac:
Two of the biggest issues we face in porting games to the Mac are byte-swapping (the Intel architecture and PowerPC want to read numbers from memory in different order) and differences in Direct3D and OpenGL. We spend a lot of time making sure every bit of data in a game is swapped correctly, since it can break everything from AI to graphics if we miss one. Some of the differences in how Direct3D and OpenGL work force us to spend a lot of time optimizing the Mac code differently to get good performance. Also discussed are DirectX porting issues, minimum specs, and cross-platform multiplayer issues. Glenda also mentions an interest in porting over Zero Hour, an expansion pack for Generals, though nothing has been made official.
