There is good news this morning from Apple concerning their portable lines of iBook and Powerbook computers. The Powerbooks now use either 1.33 or 1.5GHz G4 processors, and the iBooks can be purchased with a new 1.2GHz G4 in the 14" model.
In addition, Powerbook users also have new graphics chips on-board; the 64MB ATI 9700 Mobility for 15" and 17" models and the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 now also has 64MB of VRAM for those interested in the 12" units. In a very interesting move, Apple is also offering purchasers of the 1.5GHz Powerbooks a $50 add-on option for 128MB of memory.
All of these changes should mean good things for users wanting to play a game or two on their new portables. Some other interesting notes are that the iBooks can now be expanded to 1.25GB of RAM and that the 17" Powerbook has received a $200 price drop to $2,700.
iBooks also still ship with gaming titles Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Deimos Rising. For more information, head over to Apple's site now.
