Mechanized warfare simulator Dark Horizons:Lore has ended its beta period. Max Gaming Technologies', who developed Lore, President Jeff Wright announced last Tuesday in an Administrative news post on the Lore ste that the beta was coming to an end and that all beta ignition keys, which are required to play Lore, will expire on the following Friday. According to the post, the game will be available for retail from publisher Garage Games shortly after the beta ends, but no option to buy the games has appeared on the publisher's website. However, a demo is available from an FTP, which is linked to below.
Here's more from the post at the Lore website:
So what next?Lore features a variety of game modes and focuses on combat among large walking tanks, known as MAVS. Stay tuned to IMG for more information on Lore as well as an upcoming review in the next weeks.
The first 3 weeks of release will be a time of free play, and enlisting new players into the Lore universe. We will promote training sessions with the Ambassadors Club, and also a competition leading up to the Invasion of the North American Sector. During this 3 week period, outside of creating characters the stats engine will not be accepting battle reports, but player stats will be counted during this time period.
The Invasion will start approximately 3 weeks after the official release of DHL. The Invasion will be a set Event starting at a specific time, during the invasion period all Server Corp servers will be running maps specifically targeted as objectives in Sector 1. We will be posting Server Corp information and how to apply this Friday.
Only approved Server Corp servers will contribute to the battle reporting.
The demo of Dark Horizons: Lore will be included in the very first issue of the MacGames DVD. To subscribe, follow the link below.
