An impromptu chat with the good folks over at Feral Interactive this morning has revealed great news for gamers anticipating the company's upcoming releases of Worms 3D and XIII.

First off comes news that's sure to please gamers on the Mac platform. In an effort to provide their customers with the most bang for their buck, Feral and porting house Zonic have gone to great lengths to enhance Mac gamer's playing experiences.

Players who have experienced the two upcoming releases on either the PC or PS2 platforms will notice a substantial increase in quality of the game's graphics. The weapons icons and interface elements of Worms 3D have all been updated with sharper, higher-resolution images, making for a crisper and cleaner gaming experience. The crafty Zonic programmers have also re-designed XIII's graphics engine to display the highly-stylized, in-game graphic novel frames at a much higher-resolution than in either the console or PC versions of the game. Feral has posted examples on the enhancements on their website - click on the links below to check them out for yourself.

Also of note is the extra work Feral has poured into the multiplayer aspects of both first person shooters. While both games will feature Game Ranger support, allowing players to easily find and join multiplayer matches over the internet, XIII will also support Mac vs PC networking, and, in a Mac exclusive, will feature every single multiplayer gametype from the PC and console versions of the game. Apart from the staples of Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Sabotage, the Mac version of XIII will also feature Power Up, previously only available in the PS2 version of the game, as well as the GameCube-exclusive The Hunt multiplayer game modes.

Further, in a move more in line with today's modern computer systems, Feral has announced their move to data DVD distribution for upcoming, content-heavy games. Both Worms 3D and XIII will be shipped on DVD, saving players the hassle of juggling between four to six game CDs. IMG has also learned that Feral's upcoming political strategy game Republic will also be shipped on a single DVD.

And, last but not least, comes the news that the ports for XIII and Worms 3D are on track, and the games will be released before the end of the month. Click on the link and check out the news for yourselves, and to put in your pre-order with the Feral webstore -
