Epic Games recently sent out a press release announcing their merger with Scion Studios, which notes that the move will effectively double their in-house development capacity.
While the name Scion may not ring bells with many gamers, America's Army, which was designed and produced by former Scion CEO Michael V. Capps, Ph.D., should be more than familiar.
"Mike has done an outstanding job managing development and establishing teams that were able to leverage the Unreal Engine technology," says Mark Rein , Vice President and co-founder Epic Games, "The combination of Epic's and Scion's world-class development teams makes Epic Games an even stronger technology leader and one of the top independent game development studios in the world."The PR adds that Epic intends to show off, among other things, the Unreal Engine 3 at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Jose.
