Spiderweb Software has released the latest incarnation of the Avernum series in Blades of Avernum. While the package comes with several adventures, a new feature Blades adds to the mix is the editor, which allows users to create their own adventures.

Anyone can use Blades of Avernum's editor to make fascinating adventures with cunning characters. Deal with monsters that work together and send out patrols to hunt you. Fight deadly bosses that summon aid, flee when they're outmatched, and surprise you with all sorts of nasty tricks.
The adventures that come with Blades include A Small Rebellion, The Valley of Dying Things, The Za-Khazi Run, and Diplomacy With the Dead, where players have to deal with a vampire who lives just outside of town.

Blades carries the following system requirements:

Macintosh with System 8.1 or later, 30 MB free RAM, 40 MB hard drive space, 800x600 screen resolution with 16 bit color. Blades o f Avernum runs natively under Macintosh OS X.
Those interested in trying it out can find a free demo available for download at MacGameFiles. The demo is sized at around 13.9 MB.
