Macfora.com has posted an interview with Carlos Camacho. Besides being a soccer team manager and a resident of Japan, Camacho is the founder of iDevGames, a site known to Mac gamers as a haven for Mac game developers.
The interview covers the scope of the iDevGames site, starting with its humble beginnings as "Mac Game Designer" and leading up to its recent revamping. Interestingly enough, Camacho points out that he feels he is more of a game maker than a player:
To tell you the truth I’m not a ‘gamer’! If you asked me what the current top-ten A-list games for the Mac were I would be hard-pressed! From a game developer point of view, I was always into ‘making the game’ rather than ‘playing the game’. From a marketers point of view, I strongly believe the importance gaming has had on our platform. For a long time, Apple seemed to shy away from the games market. The situation is much improved, but I still think Mac gaming has yet to reach its true potential. One of the other subjects discussed is that of the true potential of Mac games, which Camacho feels has yet to be reached. He adds that he feels a renaissance in Mac gaming is forthcoming, citing newer developers that have been bringing Mac-specific titles to the market.
