GameSpot Posts World of Warcraft Hands-on Look 8:49 AM | Eddie Park | Comment on this story
Blizzard fans looking for a little more information on the upcoming MMORPG World of Warcraft may want to check out a recent preview done by GameSpot. Besides providing voluminous details on the Quest aspect of WoW, which currently seems to be a huge part of the game, details on activities such as gathering and crafting are also discussed: If you wish to take a break from fighting altogether, you can use World of Warcraft's trade skill system. This lets you either gather valuable resources, like rare herbs for potions, or it lets you create products, like armors and weapons. Gatherers will spend much of their time trying to locate specific resources; whether or not they can successfully recover them will depend on their skill levels. Crafters will be able to combine ingredients using a streamlined interface that will let them automatically begin production if they have enough ingredients. Unlike some other MMORPGs currently available, WoW's crafting system currently does not penalize players for crafting failures by destroying the raw materials being worked with. Also discussed in the preview are some experiences with leveling up, the basic combat system, and the dungeon structure of WoW.
