Ultima V: Lazarus Revived as DS Mod 8:05 AM | Andy Largent | Comment on this story
A team of enthusiasts dedicated to reviving the classic Ultima Role-Playing Game series has released an alpha demo of Ultima V: Lazarus. Instead of just reproducing the original fifth installment of this RPG classic, the group has instead recreated the game by making it a modification for Dungeon Siege. Lazarus hopes to expand the original title's gameplay while upping its graphics into the fully 3D environment of the Dungeon Siege engine. Here are a few goals the team has: [Lazarus] will have brand new graphics, CD-quality orchestral music (including re-mastered versions of the original U5 music plus some new pieces--you can hear an early version of our re-mastered "Stones" on the TAPESTRY page), improved and expanded dialogue, and a much more "alive" design for the Underworld, amongst other improvements. The alpha demo is available now for Mac and PC, though you must have a full working version of Dungeon Siege in order to play. There are also localized versions for German and French gamers to choose. Have a look around the Lazarus site for more information on the game or to check out screenshots.
